Short and to the point, Jack's Donuts originated in New Castle several decades ago, and under Lee Marcum's (son of founder) oversight, has expanded to 14 locations from Avon to Bloomington and Muncie with 10 sites in and around Indianapolis. Lee has been seen on Indy TV (e.g. channel 8) touting new and savory creations. Simply put, you owe it to yourself to try one or more of these sweet, if not sinful, delights. If you don't agree Jack's to be among the best doughnuts you've ever tasted, consider checking yourself into the nearest ER because there is likely something seriously wrong with your taste buds. :-)

Indiana is known for good home cooking. This place serves up a wide variety of Hoosier favorites. On Fridays they offer an all-you-can-eat beer-battered fish special. The dish arrived with four huge fillets, no question of needing more. The large tenderloin is gigantic so I ordered the small one, and it was huge also. I cut it in half and each piece was still larger than the bun. If you decide to get the large tenderloin, it's enough to share with three or four people.
The side salad was fresh and cold, and the other side dishes, green beans and mashed potatoes and gravy were ample and delicious.
The service was great. Our server took time to answer our questions about the history of the restaurant, which opened in Rushville in 1944. Our meal arrived hot and quickly.
They are undergoing an expansion and I can really understand why. The prices are very reasonable. I will definitely go again.

Brought back fond memories walking up to the little window and placing our ice cream order. A little off the main highway but still had to stand in line! Our ice cream and shakes were great! Nice to slow down the pace for a change.

We've been there several times already and it has never disappointed us. Great place if you like Mexican food. They have two different locations and we have always been at the one on S 14th St. Love the place.

This place is a pleasant surprise. Located "uptown" in New Castle, IN...unassuming storefront with some serious punch behind those doors. A very capable kitchen serves up an impressive menu that includes specials, varying weekly. I've dined here on multiple occasions: with spouse, family, friends.
Vibe: High-end décor for a small, formerly booming, manufacturing town. Lots of dark wood, warm light, and a split-level floor plan with the bar perched just a few feet above the main dining room. Impressive from the moment you walk in the door.
Service: Attentive wait staff. Probably won't find a Master Sommelier here, but they know the menu well and they're happy to answer any questions you may have.
Food: Good survey of Italian cuisine amongst menu items (I've had just about everything they offer). The food is done VERY well. The only risotto I've had that was better than Primo's: Venice, Italy...no joke.
Bar: Great cocktail and liquor selection, solid wine list, formidable array of craft bottled beers as well. Only hang-up is the lack of draught beer.
Overall: This place is grossly under appreciated. Whenever I stop in, I walk away more impressed. If you live regionally, get in the car...it's worth the drive. I'd stack this place up against any Italian eatery in Indy.

As titled the food is always fresh and tastes great. The older gray lady at register never smiles and seems to have a bad day everyday. Will keep returning for grinders as they are awesome but wow the people working there seem really unhappy. Food is 5/5 overall service 3/5 at best. Try any grinder they are wonderful but breadsticks, pizza and other items are all very good.

I wish I had great things to say about this--our first stop for Mexican in a three-week road trip, but it was just mediocre compared to other places we dined. They are open until 10 p.m., and we pulled into New Castle about 8:30, so our options were limited. The food came quickly--probably too quickly. Amazingly, after 9 p.m., on a Wed. evening, there was a noisy kids' party in the next room. This is a good stop if you want fast food and don't care about relaxing. It is authentic Mexican, and there is a little language issue.

Our first visit for breakfast and we enjoyed our meal. The kids ordered the Mickey pancake, which was a cute presentation for an otherwise ordinary dish. My husband ordered a ham and cheese omelet and it was yummy. I ordered an egg breakfast with bacon and hash browns and pancakes. Being gluten-free, I couldn't eat the pancakes but they looked good. Portions were large enough we had some leftovers. Overall, it was a good place to eat and we will return next time we're in town.

I are here with my elderly father who loves this place. It is convienetly located and the parking is easy. You can even enter through the pack door which makes it easier for those who can't walk very far. The food is predictable but the staff are very polite. The food is primarily comfort good and the servings are ample.
