Discover Restaurants offering the best Contemporary food in Reno, Nevada, United States. Nevada's "other" gambling and resort town, Reno is located in the western part of the state near the California border. What the city lacks in glitz or reputation it more than makes up for in attractions and amenities. There are first-rate hotels, golf courses and casinos to rival its southern counterpart and, also like Las Vegas, Reno has become a popular destination for families. Galena Creek Park offers nature trails that even young children can navigate, plus organized educational events for families.

We have eaten here about 10 times over the years and consider this one of our favorites worth the extra cost- until now. We ordered potato, soup, roasted brusssel sprouts, sole, and lamb shank as well as wine. All dishes were too salty. Admittedly, I am a healthy eater with an atypical Americanl palette, but have never felt the food was too salty here until now. How do you get to the real flavor of food when it is over salted? I don't know.... I brought it to the attention of the owner and she was surprised that the 3 cooks involved in preparing the dishes had done the same thing, but admitted there was a new cook. I will monitor the reviews to determine if the changes in the kitchen have permanently affected the quality of this restaurant to determine my return.

Here is what the table ate:Jalapeño cheddar biscuitsChile "Relleno"Pork BunsThai Duck SoupWarm Goat CheeseRoasted Eggplant soupOpaka PakaOnion-chile crusted short ribsLamb RibeyeLemon curd with huckleberries Strawberry rhubarb cheesecakeBrownie sundae with torched marshmallow and salted caramel ice creamProfiteroles with dulce de leche ice chocolate chile sauce and spun sugarI would recommend every item. We loved it! The relleno was a bit on the spicy side but ought it was great.

With an enticing menu (soup, salads, meat and veggie options), and situated in a charming brick building a block from the Nevada Museum of Art, the Old Granite Street Eatery seemed like a great lunch choice. We ordered the pork belly starter - not the best I'd ever had (not to mention that the portion was pretty small) but pretty good. I'd ordered the pulled pork sandwich - choosing the salad option over shoestring potatoes. The pork was smothered in an overpowering BBQ sauce that could've come straight out of a bottle snagged from the shelf at the local supermarket. A few strands of flavorless coleslaw dotted the top of the mushy pork which flowed over the sides of the bun into the salad. The green salad was fairly plain - two types of lettuce with an unbalanced dressing - so tart that my mouth felt like I'd been chewing a slightly spoiled lemon. My friend had the grilled cheese sandwich - he liked it.
