Things to do in Dumaguete City
We invited friends living in Dumaguete to lunch and they recommended La Essencia Cafe in Hotel Essencia. There were 5 of us in two vehicles. Problem: very limited parking, hotel is in a busy street and parking is a real problem. It was a Saturday & guard at nearby closed establishment allowed us to park there. The menu was quite extensive, several pages long. Filipino, Chinese, western, they have it. Ordered what looked good on their menus complete with pictures. (See photos for what we ordered)Food was good, nothing spectacular but good. And total bill was really quite low. And place is nice, too. Just in the lobby of the hotel. Recommended
A local cafe serving quality coffee since 1996
This coffee shop is just right in front of the grocery of Lee Plaza at the heart of the Dumaguete downtown area. It literally makes the front of the grocery smell like roasted coffee since it doesn't really have a concrete divider to separate itself from the rest of the establishment. It is a small place with a few chairs, but you can get freshly baked bread (at 2-3pm usually) and some coffee if you wish. Not really the kind of coffee shop where teens hang out since seats are oftentimes already occupied and it can get pretty noisy (because then again, it is an open area), but you can stop by if you're waiting for someone to finish shopping or something.TIP: They certainly the best coffee bread in town.
Five of us Ex-pats, one from Argentina, another U.K., three USA have lunch one day each week at different spots around Dumaguete. We choose this place and enjoyed your meals including salads & pasta dishes(they have a nice marinera sauce). It's a cramped space which is expanding soon as it has been a hit with the Silliman University students just across the street. They bake some decent pastries, bagels, English muffins, croissants, baguettes etc. Everything was fresh and tasty, nothing was very exciting, nor ground shaking. The service was friendly, the place very clean! We five will be back sometime in the future!

Located at the Dumaguete Airport, come and relax with Cold beer, the Best Coffee in the Philippines, good quality food and friendly staff. Just 2 minutes walk form the arrivals and departure area, we look forward to seeing you here.
The finish line is really handy to visit especially if you are traveling in or out of Dumaguete. The Staff is always friendly, the food is good, the menu is small but everything on it is very edible and tasty, typically american style food, but breakfast can be beans on Toast if you prefer, the beer is always cold, the coffee always fresh. the Finish line is only open during airport operational hours, but that is ok.

Good variety, and decent food, probably the only lasagna bake with REAL bechamel sauce in Dumaguete. I like the selection of beverages, hot and cold, well prepared. The meal was quite good, served in time, pasta was a bit too sweet for my taste (Filipino trait) but it was better than average, the pizza baguette reminded me of Polish "zapiekanka" which was quite surprising.

Every December, my friends and I stay at Bethel Guest House and would always eat at Cafe Filomena for the affordable breakfast meals and wonderful view of the boulevard. However, this year's experience at the cafe was very disappointing. Although our food was still good, we couldn't believe that the brewed coffee we used to love could turn out to be so bad - it was like hot water with a hint of coffee. Even instant coffee was better than what they were brewing. We don't know if their machine was broken or if they were running out of coffee grounds but I do hope they fix this.

An average coffee shop. The family who used to own the restaurant on the boulevard by the same name who never did ensure the restaurant attracted return customers is at it again in this small venue. Is okay for a visit with friends, but other venues in town are better.

If you love great ambience, atmosphere or whatever you wish to call it, then go no further than this location. Located adjacent to Lantaw, you have the best pizza here. Parking is a bit of a struggle, so take a pedicab if possible and leave the car at home. For those who smoke, there is a designated smoking zone at the rear end of the open space. Great for a quick meal or to spend the evening with friends.

Great little place with quite a few vegetarian options. I went with the squash soup, monggo guisado and tumeric tea. All are really good but the monggo guisado is just an explosion of flavour, every bite was delicious. And very healthy too.We walked over here from the port area which is about a 15 minute walk. Wouldâve walked much further for this!
