Since 2004 Little Crane Cafe has earned a solid reputation for serving the "Best Breakfast in Town". It has evolved into a local hot spot and destination location for those who enjoy our creative menu, friendly service and excellent food. Little Crane offers breakfast available all day, daily specials and a clean, family-friendly atmosphere. We are proud our fans considers us to be one of the top rated restaurants in the area for food, service and value.
Without guidance for where to eat while visiting beautiful Necedah National Wildlife Refuge, I probably never would have found my way to Little Crane Cafe. There are a bunch of other dining establishments clustered together on the main street, and this one is out a bit, on the side of the road, all by itself.
But… thank goodness for TripAdvisor, because Little Crane Cafe turned out to be a fine spot for lunch, assuming you're not distracted by the mounted pronghorn who watches you eat from his spot by the door or the realistically stuffed marten (or weasel?) who looks like he's about to pounce on the server from another wall.
The menu contained several items of interest to me, but I selected a patty melt with ice tea and their signature waffle chips. A basic lunch, but it was excellent in every way. I've ordered the same thing in much fancier places and been disappointed. Not here.
Authentic, clean, inexpensive, and local. "Regulars" are warmly greeted by name. (I enjoyed eavesdropping on extensive chatter about how one customer's elderly father had built a trailer from scratch to hold his son's plumbing equipment.)
Little Crane Cafe place is open only for breakfast and lunch. I'll definitely go back if I'm ever in Necedah again.

A friend and I had breakfast here two days in a row. Both times, the food was good and there was plenty of it. My only complaint is the coffee is a $1.50 a cup and the one waitress was slow in getting us our checks.
One day I had eggs over easy, sausage patty, and pancakes. I thought this was excellent. The second day was biscuits and gravy with two over easy on top. I didn't like the biscuits, they seemed hard and thin. We only had breakfast, so not sure the quality of the lunch menu.
I would eat here again, as it is one of the few places you can get breakfast during the winter months. I would suggest getting a 20 oz $1.50 coffee at the convenience/gas station. This place is in the same building.

This place is a combination deli-restaurant (serving hot lunches) and a grocery store and bakery. I bought Polish cheese and ham, smoked sausage and apple strudels. They were all good especially the Polish cheese and ham. Did not try their lunch items. Good prices and good service, I would return for more deli items.

Our mission is to be the restaurant of choice because we have honored the legacy of "Family". We will strive to exceed our guests' expectations and provide a warm, pleasing dining experience just as Mama once did for her family. To achieve this end, we must hold ourselves to the highest possible standards of excellence for service and food. We will dedicate ourselves to these values and principles. We will be committed to developing leadership skills and to encouraging empowerment of our employees, just like Mama raised her kids. We will embrace the challenge of constant self-evaluation to improve our performance as both the restaurant and employer of choice.
We were intending to have dinner at another place, but found it was closed, so this was our only option within a reasonable distance. Local ads said they are known for their ribs, so I tried a half rack. parboiled and rubber with storebought sauce brushed over the top- horrible! I gagged down two ribs and gave up. The service was as slow and incompetent as the food was poorly prepared. I'd choose convenience store food over this place anytime.

This little bar is now Swineys Sportsmans. The service here was excellent! Bar was very quiet when we arrived which was nice and picked up quite a bit throughout the night. Everyone seemed very nice. It has a pool table and good seating area. We have not tried the food but the prices are very good and the drinks are just right. We will definitely stop in again.

Love the food at this small town bar/restaurant. Fork-tender baby back ribs were a rare treat today as they're rarely on the menu. Yummy cowboy beans, tender cornbread, and tasty homemade coleslaw rounded out the meal. The food at Roadhouse never disappoints. Weekly special, broasted chicken, on Sunday's (but also served any day) is my 2nd all time favorite at this funky friendly place. Even though it constitutes a 30 minute ride, we've become weekly familiar faces to the owners, Emmy & Dave, and the bartenders. Best cookin around these here parts.

After a full morn and afternoon at Necedah NWR,we popped in for a late lunch. FYI, don't order any pasta on the weekends because they don't serve it. So I settled for the shrimp basket, husband had cheeseburger and my friend had the black&blue burger. They both enjoyed their burgers and fries as I also enjoyed my shrimp. Really wanted the gourmet Mac cheese. Oh well. Pleasant atmosphere and friendly, prompt staff. You can sit at the bar, dining area or outside. Nice view of the lake and falls. It's always good to try out local food because you might find you like it.
