History and charm run deep in Historic Natchitoches and at the center of the city sits the Chateau Saint Denis Hotel, literally a stone’s throw from shopping opportunities, unique restaurants, museums, heritage trails and parks. The largest boutique hotel in downtown Natchitoches offers 87 rooms with luxuriously hand-crafted superior mattresses, custom furniture, draperies and artwork, in addition to fully-appointed bathrooms with specialty toiletries and the convenience of in-room refrigerators and coffee stations with seven units offered as Luxury Suites. Unlimited Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel, as is convenient parking including an electric car charging station, and a guest laundry, daily hot breakfast, “Grab and Go” Sundry Shop, Fitness Room, Business Center and our very own Lounge 1714 offering a wide variety of beer, wine and spirits.
We were looking forward to staying at this hotel. We had seen one recent negative review, but we chalked it up to a bad day. Unfortunately, things went south for us the moment we arrived. We checked in around 8:30-8:45pm which is not typically a busy time, and it wasn’t at the front desk. There was no attendant at the desk, and after several minutes as I was about to call the hotel on my cell phone, someone showed up. But, there were no luggage carts in the lobby. The girl at the desk said people must have them in their rooms. We waited about 5 minutes or so while maintenance was going to check each floor to find them. There were none to be found, so we ended up making multiple trips up and down to get our belongings to our room. In addition, the Kleenex dispenser was empty, and we had go to the front desk to retrieve a box. The next morning, we arrived at breakfast to find that there was one packet of jelly left for the biscuits. We were told they were waiting on a shipment. With it being Memorial Day weekend, we knew we wouldn’t see any more jelly during our stay, and we didn’t. Before leaving the hotel to explore downtown, we told the desk we’d like to have our room cleaned, soaps and shampoo/conditioner refilled, and towels replenished. When we returned about 4:00, our room was as it had been before. We inquired about housekeeping service and were told our room would be cleaned. When we left to go out again at 6:00, we spoke with the front desk, and we were assured our room would be taken care of. When we returned about 9:15, our room had not been touched. A call again to the front desk confirmed our room would not be cleaned after all. Towels could be delivered to our room, or we could come downstairs and get some along with soap, shampoo and conditioner. There was no manager on duty to speak with, but we were assured she would be there the following morning at 9:00. The next day, we went down for breakfast about 30-40 minutes before it ended. There was no sausage or gravy available, and the staff told us it was because it was so close to the end of breakfast hours. Grits, scrambled eggs, and biscuits were the only offerings in the steamers. We could have had the typical fix it yourself items of toast, bagels, pancakes and cold cereal, but they were out of jelly and peanut butter. We were able to get a luggage cart to take our belongings down, but the manager had not arrived by 10:00am. We packed our belongings and took them downstairs, but the manager still had not shown by 11:00. When we asked for a receipt, we were not able to get one due to the fact that we booked through a third party. There was no mention of any kind of refund or discount due to the lack of housekeeping services. While the staff person on duty did write down our name, email and phone number, we don’t have much confidence that we will hear from them. The rooms here were well appointed with the exception of the floors. They were vinyl, wood look planks, and they felt dirty/sticky if walking barefoot across them. When taking a shower, there were dirty footprints on the floor of the shower where we entered. The shower had dispensers for the soaps, etc. as seems to be the new normal in many hotels which is not a problem. Our problem was that none were labeled, so we had to figure out what was what. In addition, the body wash was empty. This hotel was described as a boutique hotel in the historic section of town. We typically think of boutique hotels as nice accommodations. We did not feel that way at all after staying here. It was a huge disappointment. I would not recommend this hotel at all.

Whether you are looking for a place for the night or a weekend away, come stay at Church Street Inn, with our deluxe guest rooms you wont regret staying at our hotel in Natchitoches, LA.
Very welcoming, comfortable, affordable in the center of the action. Hot breakfast, not just pastries and coffee. A boutique hotel with all the charm of bed and breakfast. Gated parking. All the staff were friendly and accommodating. We had stayed in the Hilton in Shreveport the two previous nights, and this was far better for half the cost!

I had a wonderful time at the Sweet Cane Inn. The room was quite comfortable and breakfasts as delicious. The inn keeper was friendly, professional, and super knowledgable of the inn’s history. There are great restaurants and sites to visit in the area, many within walking distance. Highly recommend this establishment.

This hotel is not bad. It had clean rooms that were sufficient for our needs. The rooms are a bit small. The real problem with this property was how slow the check in process was. Took 20 minutes to check-in.

We stayed at this hotel last night. After a couple hiccups our stay was flawless. I have to start with the convenient location off the interstate. Now it's a couple miles from the charming downtown area but for us that was fine. I have to commend the front desk staff. Our check in and communications with them went off without a hitch, both gals went above and beyond. I wish I would have gotten their names. Our room was great, comfortable, large and everything we needed. We had a bit of trouble with the wifi, but that got ironed out after a couple hours. They actually had a breakfast which was nice. I would definitely stay there again!

I am a frequent traveler. Before the pandemic I typically spent over 50 nights per year in hotels. I have had my share of issues over the years, but nothing like what I encountered last weekend at the Fairfield Inn & Suites Natchitoches. We arrived at around 8 pm with a confirmed reservation (with email to prove it) that had been booked approximately two weeks earlier (long before weather was an issue). The woman at the desk informed us that she had no record at all of our reservation, said "I got nothing," and informed us that the hotel was fully booked due to hurricane evacuation. We showed her our confirmation information, but she still said "I got nothing, and we are totally booked." We had no choice but to leave and take our chances in the rain. Because of the storm there were no other hotels available anywhere within 150 miles. I have arrived at an overbook hotel before. The hotel apologized profusely, found alternative accommodations, and compensated me for my trouble. I have never had my reservation vanish or had a clerk shrug and say "I got nothing." The only reasonable explanation is that hotel management took a look at the bookings for the night and purged the system of our reservation because we had booked in advance and had a lower price than they could get from someone else fleeing the hurricane. I have taken up the matter with Marriott corporate.
