My girlfriend and I stumbled across this cafe while staying at the Blue Sky Guesthouse in Hongu. I noticed they offered freshly made curries on their lunch menu, and being a huge fan of curry and just a little bit tired of soupy noodles, I thought why not. The curries turned out to be awesome, as were their salads, cakes and fruit teas (fresh quince tea!). We enjoyed the food so much we returned the following day to try other curries on the menu.The cafe has a really chilled vibe and the friendly owner speaks great English.

I can't say that we enjoyed visiting this cafe. If this was my everyday coffee I would only ever drink tea. Castella cake was ok, similar to what you'd find at a 7/11. The seating outside is good as the architecture of the buildings is interesting.

Popped in here in search of something deep fried and was amply rewarded with pork cutlet (tonkatsu) that was a little bit of heaven.Prices are reasonable, service is excellent, and menus are available in English, Japanese, and point-and-shoot (photos of the food).

After a 30k hike along the Kumano Kodo trail I was looking for a place to relax and some food. Kumanoco delivered anything I could hope for; good honest Japanese food, great atmosphere almost like a hostel and great staff that spoke English well. Highly recommendable!

This small cafe in Hongu town serves healthy vegan lunches. Small menu. We had a three course dinner set meal and price. A young couple prepared this meal for us and it was Japanese style meal, tasty and very well presented. Dinner need to be booked.
