Reviews on Cafe food in Nara, Nara Prefecture, Japan. Thirteen hundred years ago, Nara (then Heiju-kyu) was the imperial capital of Japan. "Old Japan" is still easy to spot here, from Great Buddha Hall to traditional ryokans and the serene Isuien garden. Travelers rave about walking tours of Nara, particularly in the historic Naramachi merchant area.

A cute little find in Nara, this place serves a lot of great dishes reminiscent of a Australian cafe with the added bonus of everything being gluten free in an area that isnât particularly aware of those with the allergy. Thank you for an excellent meal and the extra snacks we took for the road!Thank you for coming to the shop and if you are coming back to Nara again, I hope see you then!!

Small cafe in the park that has an Italian flag outside. Everything home cooked by the husband. The quiches were superb and recommend as a take away as well.

This is a small restaurant in Nara Park, near Kasuga Taisha shrine, and just by the manyo botanical garden entrance. It was a convenient stop at a time when I wanted lunch. They had an English menu, and one of the staff spoke English. There was a range of traditional Japanese food, and they were happy to give me a small test portion of the rice porridge so I could decide whether to order it. I did order the porridge, which came with sides of various pickles and rolled omelette. This was a tasty and filling meal. The restaurant has a rustic outdoor eating area, which was very pleasant.

A hidden secret that I highly recommend. Food is great and home made. Staff is very friendly and great customer service. A small restaurant with great family atomosphere. Prices are very reasonable. Perfect for families.

We just missed the breakfast menu but gorged on waffles and cheesecake. The quality was great, a good choice of coffee blends and the service was friendly even though they clearly were a little understaffed. The portions seemed fine for Japan, certainly wouldn't describe them as small unless perhaps you are used to the sort of measures you find in that America. Someone before mentioned some kind of pressure to buy food with the coffee but we didn't experience that. Perhaps if we'd not ordered food the atmosphere may have changed and we would've found ourselves round back being whipped like jackals. As I say though, luckily we simply ordered both and were even afforded a small discount for doing so. Great place, well worth dropping by.

2 of the 3 in our party are vegetarians, meaning we eat eggs and dairy but not meat or fish. This restaurant was reviewed as being vegetarian friendly and having a good selection of vegetable dishes. It did not, in fact, offer any dishes without at least fish, since everything came with Miso soup with a fish base, and there was no way to ask for a substitution without speaking Japanese, since the waitress did not speak any English. There were only about 5 items on the menu (though there was an extensive (and expensive) drink menu. The special came with very good sides, in the Japanese style of several small bowls with a few bites of each food, but the main dish was fish tempura and there was no vegetarian substitution available. The atmosphere was good as long as you don't mind sitting on Tatami mats, and the prices were reasonable (1200 yen for the meal) as long as you don't want to order a drink (around 500-600 yen for a cup of tea or coffee). There was one vegetarian dish (aside from the Miso it came with), which was a rice-cheese-mushroom casserole. It was decent but small. As far as being hard to find, it did require going down some side streets. We came around from the back, which has a gravel parking lot with rocks and metal statues of children playing. The front had a small tree, some potted plants, and a stack of rocks.

To find the shop, as you exit Kintetsu Nara Station, just walk a little south along Mochiidono-center-gai shopping arcade. Flavorful curry and curry bun made with plenty of vegetables and tasty spices. The varied menu runs from non spicy much items loned
Went here on a cold day after sightseeing. Their menu is amazing, with a lot of different styled curries (spinach, lamb, chicken, beef - and also vegetarian options!) and different levels of spiciness, ranging from sweeter, Japanese style curry to spicier ones. Their lunch set is quite good, paid 880 yen for a vegetarian curry cheese gratin, salad and some baguette. Portion size was perfect for me. For those who can't decide on one curry, they also offered a plate featuring four different kind of curries! Definitely coming back here soon!

Pizzas were good but about half the size of what I like to see. Only came in around ¥1000 so cant complain too much. Good cocktail selection and nice enough place. Just wasn't wowed by the portion size, not to mention the prosciutto and salad pizza seems to literally be just that on bread with no cheese or tomato so quite possibly the healthiest pizza ever.
