This was our first time staying at the campsite by the water - Le Pirot - idyllic environment with delightful and welcoming staff! Our friends recommended having dinner at Chez Wang as they had had good meals there before. We reserved a table for 1930h.We arrived more or less on time and our drinks order taken: a bustling lady whom we took to be the boss served us. When we asked for some tap water to accompany the wine, we were forcefully told âno free water, you pay for bottled waterâ. She was a tad brusque but we decided not to buy the water.Starters arrived within minutes - just a few spring rolls and a hot chilli soup. These were fine.Thereafter the evening descended into a cross between farce and pantomime. All the dishes were wok- based and should have taken 25 minutes maximum to cook. After a 75 minute wait, one of our party politely got up and asked whether our food was on its way. The reply was that it would be with us in a few minutes. After another 25 minutes, I asked whether our order would arrive or not? The lady (owner?) rushed into the kitchen and screamed at the cooks. Another 30 minutes passed and nothing had appeared. No one had come to offer an explanation, an apology or even a courtesy libation. As the 2 hour waiting time came round, we decided to give up... the time was 2150h.We stood up and I explained to Madame in French that our food had not arrived within two hours and that our evening had been spoiled; we were therefore leaving the restaurant. I suggested that perhaps she or the kitchen had mislaid our order and that all she had needed to do was to keep us in the loop. At this juncture a plate of shrimp noodles appeared from the kitchen.... two hours in the cooking? I think not!We offered to pay for our drinks but felt that since we had not had a true meal we would withhold payment on the 12 euros worth of starters. There then ensued a torrent of screaming from the owner who threatened to phone the police! One of the waiters then pretended to phone the police by keeping his hand over the mouthpiece was not the most convincing act ever seen!Eventually, as the altercation was disturbing other clients ,I paid for the starters and the drinks and left.We had hot cross buns for a late supper! This was a real shame as the restaurant is beautifully placed and we have heard from other campers that the food is usually good. Not up to our expectations I am afraid to say!Might try Chez Wang again but we shall go in disguise!

Imagine that you are traveling from the Alps back to the Netherlands and that you have to get of the road because of a traffic jam. With little people living in this green hills we just bumped by pure luck into this place. This Japanse couple are real masters and only enjoy doing this a few days a week. You can taste the long experience of someone who has cooked whole his/her live. This is true perfection at an affordable price. You only have find it and be lucky that it is open
