I had an amazing stay at this ryokan - it is a beautiful place to stay that has everything - friendly staff, three private rotenburos, clean, beautiful rooms and delicious food! From the moment I booked I received quick responses to my questions and detailed instructions on how to get there, as well as suggestions on places to visit in the area. The staff are all very kind and it is a relaxing place to stay. It is the best ryokan I have stayed at in Japan and I am looking forward to visiting again!

First opened in 1905, Hinatami-kan started as the only inn in the Hinatami district deep in Shima Onsen. The wooden building was renovated in 1961, and reborn as a modern and casual inn set along a clear stream that invites guests to enjoy a beautiful view and the sound of the water. We look forward to serving you with our simple and humble hospitality that will make you want to stop back again.
This small and intimate ryokan is a bit off the beaten path but worth the detour. I don't normally sleep well in ryokans but this time round, I had an amazingly sound sleep, helped no doubt by the soothing burble of the stream just beside the ryokan. The food was delicious and plentiful, with breakfast in particular being a stand out. Everything was spotlessly clean, the staff were discrete but attentive, the onsens (in particular the outdoor rotenburo) perfect. The only very slight negative is that the choice of sake available on premise is very limited, but they are happy for you to bring your own drinks at no additional charge.

This is a large htel located a bit outside of the main area of Shima onsen. Shima onsen itself is a quiet valley and besides onsen hotels there aren't many places to visit as a foreign tourist. But hot spring, gorgeous dinner buffet and breakfast were very enjoyable. The hotel is old and the facilities are modest. The service personnels are polite, friendly and helpful. One must reserve the room with dinner because there are practically nothing around this hotel.

Our pride is huge amount of onsen that is springing up 1600 liter per minute from 7spots. You can taste different seasonal ingredients at Kaiseki cuisine in every month. we offer you relaxing and soothing time in spacious guest room with large windows.
This onsen hotel is a bit dated and there is no wifi in the building where we stayed. Amenities in room or onsen are limited and some onsen does not have shower facility. Visited one of the outdoor lady onsen which has a good view of waterfall. Dinner is served at private dining room instead of at the guest room like other onsen resorts. The Japanese course dinner was good while buffet breakfast was rather basic but still feed you full. Hotel staff are polite and attentive. There is a lady at front desk who can speak good English. As it was raining, they were very kind to send us to their sister hotel Shima Grand Hotel for our bus back to Tokyo.
