Reviews on Steakhouse food in Hakuba-mura, Nagano Prefecture, Japan. Nestled in the Northern Japan Alps, Hakuba is all about the winter sports. A top ski and snowboarding destination, Hakuba has plenty of snow and nearly perfect powder. Spend the day swooshing down one of the areas 200+ trails, then end with an après ski at one of the area’s cozy pubs or cafes. Local mineral hot springs make great soaking spots for weary muscles.

We wanted a little break from the Japanese cuisine and decided to eat here. There was 6 of us and we all ordered steaks which were cooked perfectly. We all ordered a few entrees which were also delicious. The only negative would be that its a little on the expensive side but would eat here again!
Craving Wagyu? Look no further. At Juan Wagyu Steakhouse, our concept is simple - to prepare and serve the best wagyu, International wine, and Japanese whiskey. For lunch, we serve Wagyu burgers and Wagyu donburis, and for dinner we serve a 6,500 yen OMAK
Great place with delicious local sourced wagyu beef and excellent service. I have been several times since it opened. The burger and roast beef bowl for lunch are delicious and great value. The wagyu omakase dinner really is something special with three different cuts of wagyu served with delicious sides deffinaly worth checking out while your in town.Simply the best wagyu in town.!

"Mimi's" is a special Restaurant. It's not obvious when you enter as the neighboring bar can be crowded especially during 'Apres-Ski' time and the decor does not wow the visitor. However, as soon as you receive the Menu and interact with the staff, a guest knows they are in for a culinary treat. My wife and I went with the 4 Course Tasting Menu designed by Chef Shimamoto. It was brilliant, we also outsourced our wine selection to the Sommelier who charged us an additional Y4000 for his wine-pairing - I strongly recommend you follow his lead and embrace the pairing. We started with marinated Shinshu Salmon, then moved to a lobster pasta which was bravely combined with a glass of red given the yummy spicy tomato sauce. The main or 'entree' course was a quite brilliant charcoal grilled Wagyu steak which was served with a red wine sauce and roasted seasonal vegetables. Both desert options which we shared were excellent - Tiramisu or berry Pavlova. Ingredients are locally sourced and the presentation of each dish was worthy of a prize for at least my wife's iPhone photo collection. Our Server (Mel) was charming and knowledgeable as were all the staff.Traditionally many come to Hakuba to ski, frankly, this restaurant is worth the trip. Chef Kazu deserves a Michelin star and many other awards. Quite brilliant, perhaps the best meal I have every had in Japan (I have lived in Japan over 11 years). It is also worth nothing that the kids' menu was lovely also with similar care for all their dishes.OH MY GOD, what a review. We only want to say thank you for all your compliments. All these amazing words for Mel, for Sergio (our Sommelier), for our chef Kazu and of course for all the Mimi's team are the best reward ever. Actually you have described us as the " Cinderella " of restaurant business. We are flattered by the comparison. We are happy to see that our efforts are appreciated by our customers. I hope to see you again soon and to be able to excite you again. Alberto Isoppi and Mimi's team.
