Used Tripadviser, as this was my first trip to Nacogdoches. This was rated #2 when I checked. The service was exceptoonal, food was bery good. Will definately be back for another visit. The nachos were big enough for a normal meal by themselves. The spicy chicken and shrimp was vety good, highly recommend it !

Latest trip to JJ's was to organise a campaign...but my friends and family and I go here lots and sometimes we get coffee at the drive through window, too. Very casual, friendly, great coffee, totally relaxing atmosphere. Pastries and sandwiches are good, too.

Clear Springs Restaurant

Nested in the middle of the Piney Woods of East Texas, this Clear Springs location occupies what once was the first refrigerated warehouse West of the Mississippi River. Located next to a busy rail yard, this warehouse was ideal for getting food and supplies to people all over Texas and the United States. Stop in and see history on the walls and enjoy the Best Fried Catfish in Texas as voted by Texas Highways Magazine.

Delicious seafood and classic American fare served in a large casual dining area. Lots of décor to look at while waiting for your food. Not as fancy as you might think - many folks were wearing jeans and a t-shirt.

This Starbucks is in a nice location convenient to the university. There is not much parking in the front, and the parking is shared with several other businesses, but there is additional space in the back. There is VERY little seating in this Starbucks, compared to some, so it can be difficult to find a seat and fairly rare to get a table. The products and service themselves are what you expect from a Starbucks, so no surprises there, but that is usually a good thing when looking for your favorite beverage!

We were quite hungry when we stopped for a late lunch. They were out of the brisket and fried okra. Except for the low cost if you are over 55, the food was quite disappointing. It had been highly recommended by our hotel, but we are not planning to ever go back!

The Liberty Bell

After a third trip here I’ve decided to review. This place lacks management plain and simple. The service is poor, almost none existent at times. It’s not that there is a lack of staff; they are generally too busy being distracted by themselves and not attentive at all to their customers. The food is just ok at best. Nothing ever stood out and was worthy of reordering are telling your friends about. Maybe the burgers, but that leads to my other impression. Why is a burger the best thing on the menu at a place like this? Just read other reviews. You will read consistently a burger is what people felt was the best thing they had. Also, sorry but the homemade chips suck. Not original and not very good. This place suffers from identity crises. Are they an upscale wine bar? Are they a local club (live way too load music)? Are they a full scale restaurant or just a local pub and dine? They are trying to be all, and failing to be great at any one of them. Management needs to present and visible to solve the staff behavior, and they need to pick a niche and run with it. For the price, quality and selection I can’t recommend the Liberty Bell. Others in town are simply doing the same thing and doing it better.

We ate breakfast here and what a cool little place. Loved the pictures and decorations on the walls. Overall this was just a nice place to enjoy some breakfast. Has that small town feel. Our waitress (Lori or Laurie) was fantastic. Simply couldn't ask for better service. The food was very good. I won't say it's the best breakfast I've ever had but it was very good. The only down side is that it was a little pricey. For 4 adults and one child it was nearly $60.00. To me that's too much for breakfast but I would return here for great atmosphere and great service. I had a bacon, cheese, mushroom, and ham omelette. It was very good. My wife had some banana or pecan pancakes and she said they were very good. The eggs and bacon my son had looked good as well. As I said, no complaints other than being a little pricey. I do recommend !

While visiting in town we opted to stop in here for lunch. We were welcomed by friendly staff and seated in comfortable booth. It has the familiar burgers, sandwiches and salads, along with daily specials, made like Mama did! try their Talapia, or roasts on various nights of the week, to name a couple, or order from their regular menu.

I ordered a half Cobb salad with A cup of tortilla soup. Salad was great, soup didn’t taste home made but was ok.

My husband ordered a sandwich he enjoyed. The fries were barely warm, but when the nice waitress replaced them, she brought a large basket full, along with her apologies. THEY were yummy.

Prices were moderate. We’d return again.

This is one of our go-to date night choices. We've thoroughly enjoyed everything we've ordered. The kefta platter is an excellent choice. The chicken and steak shwarmas are always great. Also, do yourself a favor and get some Greek fries with the garlic sauce (which is from the heavens.)

Newk's Eatery

We frequent Nacogdoches each month and Newk's is a regular stop for us when we want to get away from the concession stand food at the rodeo. They have a great selection of items from sandwiches to pizza to soups and salads; something for everyone. Those who are health conscious can also find a good selection of options. I highly recommend trying them out when in town!
