Find out what Diner restaurants to try in Hammamet. Sunbathing, al fresco dining and late-night discos are a way of life in Hammamet, the Tunisian St-Tropez. Located on the fertile Cap Bon Peninsula, about 40 miles south of Tunis, the bayfront resort is surrounded by verdant hills and citrus groves. When not basking on Hammamet Beach, browse the markets for local pottery or wander through the medina (old city) with walls that date to 1500. Summer brings festival fever to the city with plenty of music and theatrical offerings.

Restaurant deux fourchettes classé touristique cuisine Tunisienne, méditerranéenne, poissons, et fruit de mer.
After we discovered that the food at our hotel - the Phenica - was wholly inedible we ended up eating out every night and the Condor was our restaurant of choice. It is an easy walk from the Phenica, or alternatively a 5 dinar - at the most - taxi ride. You are given a complimentary small plate after you have ordered, and we grazed on this most nights. The paella, grilled liver and grilled lamb chops are good here although we treated ourselves to the fish and shellfish platter for two one night - that was also good. Everything is cheap and I cannot understand anyone saying it is 'expensive' but that might be if one compares it to other Tunisian prices. It certainly isn't by western standards. The salads are good here too - especially the octopus version. I can recommend the brik and ojja too - delicious. Unfortunately for me I made the mistake of booking again with the Phenica - one cannot eat there so I will be visiting the Condor again very soon. Recommended.
