Find out what Asian restaurants to try in Mwanza. Mwanza is a mid-sized port city on the southern eastern shores of Lake Victoria in north western Tanzania. With a population of over 800,000, it is at the moment Tanzania's second largest city, after Dar es Salaam. Mwanza is the capital of the surrounding Mwanza Region but it is splitted and actually covers two of the seven districts of the region (Ilemela to the North, and Nyamagana to the South), which are administered separately (they are themselves subdivided respectively into ten and twelve wards).

We stayed at Ryan's Bay for three nights while visiting a foundation. The hotel is central, clean, safe and friendly employees. The rooms are fair, with all you need. I recommend a room on the higher floor. There is a gym and nice pool too.

I find the food here is always great (I've been here many times over the past 4 years). The portions are good and the food tastes amazing. Definitely try the paneer dishes. What bothers me is that sometimes, and this has happened on multiple occasions, the staff are not kind, very slow and sometimes even forget that there are people around. Unfortunately also a bit racist. Otherwise very interesting interior design, not the cleanest of places but quite nice. The food is worth a visit!

Yun Long was a welcome sight after a long walk around Capri Point/Nyamagana. A nice cold beer was served quickly. Staff were prompt and efficient. Had a nice view of the water and surrounding rocks including Bismarck. The pork dumplings were well made and steamed in a broth. Almost like getting two appetizers in one. I rearranged my dumplings so their nice formation showed, otherwise they were hiding in the broth. My hopes of duck were not fulfilled today, but the sizzling calamari with ginger, chili and black bean sauce was delicious. After a couple requests, chopsticks were provided. The overall premises were a little worn, but the food and view more than made up for that.
