With three wins at Memphis in May to his credit, Mike Mills is one of the giants of American bbq. 17th Street is a testament to his knowledge and experience. The Lotta Bull sandwich is ranked by Johnny Fugitt (The 100 Best Barbecue Restaurants in America) as #3 nationwide; I'd put it at #2, trailing only Payne's in Memphis. The ribs are sensational, and can I say enough about the home made banana pudding? It comes in a large jelly jar, could easily satisfy 3, and costs $4. $34.96 bought a half rack, the sandwich, three sides, the pudding, and a fountain drink. Extraordinary value all the way around.

It took me a little bit to actually see the sign for the place since it sits back from other signage, but boy am I glad I finally found it!!!! I had the black and blue double crust. Simply delightful! We put it in a slow oven to warm it up, made a sinful breakfast and goes oooohhh soooooo good with coffee and a southern Illinois sunrise:) Will definitely stop again next time I'm traveling our southern wine trails! Keep up the wonderful pies!

Stopped in town to grab a pizza to go. They seemed rather busy as it was a Friday night and staff was a little overwhelmed, however pizza was ready and hot in 20 minutes. They had real authentic Italian pizza. Wished they would've given us Parmesan or napkins when we left, but maybe that was up to us to ask. Pizza was very good. Great for dining in or carry out. Big selection on the menu with many items to choose from. Cozy atmosphere.

Eat here ocassionally when passing through. As DQ's go, this is probably our second favorite to go to. We won't stop at the one in our home town because of past experience. Generally clean and well, it's DQ, ice cream, burgers, chicken in a fairly quick time.

Bet you didn't think Murphysboro was the capital of BBQ in Illinois, that there are several top-quality BBQ restaurants in Murphysboro and the nearby communities of Herrin, Du Quoin, Christopher and Jonesboro. Restaurant is just off Rt13 and lit up with strings of lights. My wife has been wanting to stop there for some time because she thought it looked interesting. Really glad we did. Was welcomed at the door and seated immediately. Staff seamed friendly enough and were very attentive. Both ordered Sergio's chicken. Being gluten intolerant that looked something that would fit the need, although there were several other options we could have chosen. Food tasted very good and came in a very timely manner, even though it seemed really busy. The one thing I would have liked to be better was the baked potato that came with the meal. Almost seemed boiled, but on the whole, we were both very pleased, and plan on going back soon to try something else.

The restaurant's telephone number is (618) 684-2776.
My husband and I have been there when they've served us comfort food at its best...perfect over medium eggs, hot, golden brown home fries, perfect toast & crispy bacon. However, the food prep is inconsistent...it's been over cooked/burned, dry, even served room temp. The carpet, walls, and ceiling are not clean. I can over look that if the food is amazing, but more often than not - it isn't.

Great pizza, great subs, outstanding salads. All their vegetables are high quality - which is a rarity in a pizza place. There is no dining in, but pick up and delivery are fast. I love all the salads, the All-American (meat and veggies) pizza in thin crust, and their Frenchie sub (hot Turkey with veggies, cheese, and French dressing).
