Very comfortable and economical. Room was spacious and the bed comfortable. A little noisy being on the main road, but ear plugs were supplied. Added bonus was a voucher for a free drink from the bar downstairs. Had dinner in the Dining Room - only complaint was the lack of vegetarian items on the menu. Free on site parking. Would be happy to stay here again.

Surrounded by lush farmland, Bellum Hotel is situated on the Limestone Coast at the base of the Mt Schank volcanic crater. We offer bar, restaurant and accommodation facilities. We were voted Triple M Best Pub on the Limestone Coast in 2018 by our local community.
This is an historical pub in the Mt Schank area, often referred to as the Halfway Hotel. It is a typical country pub, no friils, great atmosphere and great food. The accommodation was clean and comfortable, typical of the many motels spread around country South Australia.

This hotel is fine for accommodation but the dining here is not such a good experience, we thought of trying it but big mistake. Couldn’t finish our food as Risotto smelling awful. Fish was not cooked properly, kids finish their steak though. It wasn’t busy at all and not much choice for drinks either. Evening wasted..

Beautiful boutique accommodation in Mount Gambier. Charming facilities, rooms immaculately clean with lots of little extra bonuses. Bedroom, beautiful bathroom and deluxe sitting room with your own gas fireplace. Accommodation has 3 suites under the same roof, but there is enough space to not run into the other guests if you prefer not too. Upstairs is a piano and full size billiards table with a balcony overlooking the township. Reccomend tea next door at sister hotel the Commodore. Exquisite food and service. Okay so it was admittedly cheap for the spa suite. We stayed Friday to Monday. I thought that was a pretty good deal at $320 for 3 nights. Reception staff appeared friendly, but not talkative. The room was presented nicely upon arrival, but smelled of cigarettes. The cleanliness wasn't up to standard. There was hair in the bath and around the toilet and the grout was dirty. I disinfected the bath and toilet myself. There were cigarette burn marks on the vanity and bath. The room hadn't been dusted in certain places which would take not even an extra 2 minutes of cleaning. I would expect that there would be a standard to how these rooms should be cleaned especially when it comes to cigarette smells. The bed was uncomfortable and each morning i woke up, my back was sore. The shower was below average with no coverage, but the spa worked nicely. When we left, i couldn't have gotten out quicker.. I'm quite particular with my cleaning, and was rather unsettled on how this room had been cleaned previously. Will not be going back.

We were disappointed when we arrived as the place looked old and unkept, weeds on the paths and just unloved. Our room was very cold and the gas ‘flame heater’ kept going out so we only have reverse cycle in the lounge, took ages to warm up the place sadly the bathroom was away from the lounge so never warmed up. Because we we cold we moved the couch directly under the heater only to find nuts and rubbish hidden under it. We also fond long hairs in the bath (we both have short hair). The shower curtain was moldy yuk! Lucky the bed had electric blanket and was quite comfortable, although we found a blanket in the cupboard and it was dirty and smelly.

We stayed here in October on a family raod trip. We were met by Vanessa who gave us a very friendly introduction to their property. It was a great combination of personal hospitality and privacy. It was lovely to watch our 3 year old son run around introducing himself to the animals, The self contained annexe was comfortable (not huge) but certainly warm, clean and cosy. We had everything we needed in the kitchen, bathroom and lounge room to make us feel at home. It was great to spend time talking to Vanessa and her family who were very welcoming but were also very respectful of your privacy.
