If Bar Harbor is booked, or you want a quiter place to stay, stay here. Little over priced, and I would ask for non harbor view. Our harbor view was not worth the price. It's a long ways to the harbor. So not worth extra price. We had obstructed view to the harbor. But, with that said, was still cheaper then staying in Bar Harbor, so we would stay here again if ever head out that way again.

A beautifully restored 19th century country inn at the foot of Acadia National Park and overlooking Northeast Harbor. The beautiful Asticou Azalea Gardens are right across the street from the Inn. The history of this property is truly fascinating! The Inn features a restaurant and a heated swimming pool.
Its a classic. Wonder old timey feel....so along with that feel is a set of extremely small rooms. The breakfast room was a bit....um....sparse and there were a goodly bunch of events that took over the hotel and restaurant/bar. The scenery was marvelous, looking over the harbor and the reception at least tried to be accommodating. As far as the cost - well - it is very expensive and not really worth it in my humble opinion.

The good: *the room was spacious and clean. the sitting area was great. the kitchenette was useful. king size bed. *this was a convenient launching pad to hikes at Jordan Pond and the two gardens (highly recommend all). We also did the Beech Cliffs trail (further west), so it was well positioned for that, too. Not too much of a drive to Bar Harbor. The not-so-great: *we booked thru expedia, no mention of the 20 steps you need to climb with all your luggage to your room. We had hiked Mt. Katahdin the day before, so those steps were rough. *the "parking" - which is on their website as "we offer parking for one car per suite" - is not actually true - it's street parking, so hit or miss. We were there at the end of the season while a lot of stuff was closed, so we did not have any trouble, but I did specifically check out the parking before booking and felt mislead by this. *the breakfast that wasn't. If you google this place you will see it comes up as a "bed and breakfast", and one of their website pages says it is a B&B. there is a $15 fee per night per person when booking through expedia, which I stupidly assumed was for breakfast. Not only is there no breakfast, there is nowhere to get breakfast, and no info in the room about what you might like to do regarding this. If it had just been made clear beforehand, we could have brought breakfast. For some reason, the bakery over which this is located doesn't open until 11 am, so that's not the answer either. Also, what was the $15 per additional person per night charge for?? *hardly any restaurants are open here at the end of September, so you need to drive elsewhere for some variety. We were able to walk to the Nor'Easter on the night it was open, but there was a pretty decent wait because not much else was open. Also, if you like to chat up the front desk, this place is not for you. We never spoke to a person. We got a text telling us the code to our room, which we were asked to acknowledge - it took us hours of trying to confirm in the park, as cell reception is terrible. At some point a receipt appeared under our door. We never spoke to anyone. That worked out fine, but that may not be your style. As you can see by the overall 4 star rating, the nice nature of the room and the comfy bed more than offset the less-great items.

We recently stayed here during our "leaf peeping" holiday. We loved it! Full of character and charm, and comfortable as well. Highly recommended. We enjoyed being out of town, Bar Harbor was very busy!
