Old fashioned soda fountain - new ownership - use old fashioned glass bowls/dishes. Also serve hotdogs and a couple of other small sandwiches.
This is a great little soda fountain restaurant. The employees are so friendly. We only ordered shakes. They were delicious! They fill your glass and bring the silver container they prepare it in. We filled our glass twice. I kept saying I would NEVER be able to finish it.
It was so tasty, I drank every drop. All three of us finished ours!
Highly recommend this place!

we are mount airy, north carolina's best kept secret in the south.....we do pie art, gourmet cakes for all occasions, cookies as big as your face, fruit danish and turnovers from our orchard, fresh breads and rolls daily, and the best pies in the state....we have been on tv july of 2013 for AMC Showville as a contestant, we were the ANA Agritourism guest speakers 2013, and were featured in Bake Magazine 2013. and just featured in the July 2016 issue of Our State Magazine
My husband and I were last here in May. We were traveling near by again and decided to give it another try. We ordered this huge chocolate chip cookie sandwich with cream filling. If you want something really sweet this is it. We shared it and we were glad we did. It is way too big and too sweet for one person. We also ordered a petit fours and was a little disappointed because the cake was a little dry. We also picked up 4 mini pies. Apple, peach, strawberry rhubarb and a berry pie. We did feel the crust on all the pies had improved since May. The crust was thinner and not as greasy tasting. The Apple and peach had good amounts of fruit in them which we liked. The strawberry rhubarb and the berry were very disappointing. No actual fruit could be found and it seemed that there was only a thick filling. We don't like the thickner that is used in any of the pies. It's very artificial tasting.

Little Richard's is so good, we go a bit out of the way when driving by to stop in.
First, the brisket sandwich is the best ever. It's covered with onions and a perfect touch of sauce. I recommend smothering it in their gold sauce!
We also had the pulled pork on a plate and on a potato. Of course, it was amazing. The side dishes are excellent too - the corn fritters are a touch sweet and amazing.
The service and atmosphere are also perfect.
By all means - try it out. Even if you need to go a little out of the way.

This place was packed with people waiting for table, but there was a seat or two at bar, where a very friendly guy was helpful. Draft beer...only two local types, but found one pretty good.
Had blacked pork chop and green beans which were good...chop on spicy side.
They specialize in steaks and ribs and judging by the crowd most people must like their fare. I'd go back for sure. happy trails

Service was great! Wait staff must have stopped and asked if we needed refills ten times during our short lunch stop. Don’t stop if you want anything resembling healthy. My boyfriend seemed to enjoy the pork chop sandwich, but said he wouldn’t drive off the beaten path again for it. Little town was cute.

Located in a bus next to sculpture park
We were heading towards the interstate when we saw the funky and happy ice cream truck.
We made a flash decision to get ice cream there.
We were not disappointed. The ice cream selection was wide and the quality was delicious. Plus, the portions were generous.
We will be returning the next time we are in the area.

Located in the heart of Mt. Airy, this winery/restaurant offers a pleasant atmosphere, good service, tasty food, and some excellent wines. My wife and I try to dine here whenever we are in Mt. Airy on a Tuesday night since they offer bottles of their wines for half price then. Their food menu includes a variety of interesting items, and they have a great bar offering a good selection of wines and beers. Inquire about the Old North State Wine Club as it can save you a decent amount of money if you dine there regularly. Service is very good, and we always enjoy relaxing at Old North State with a nice bottle of wine and some good food.

We really enjoyed our ice cream treat from this shop. My husband and I eat based on a special diet and it isn't very often we eat sweets. It did take several minutes for anyone to actually acknowledge us once we entered the store to order, but eventually they did. Like any ice cream shop in a tourist town we paid upwards of $10 for two milkshakes, but I would expect nothing less.

This is one of my favorite places ever. The food is always excellent. Presentation is gorgeous. It doesn't look fancy from the outside but more then makes up for it in quality. The prices are also surprisingly reasonable. This is that must try restaurant.

We ended up here late on Sunday night when most Mt Airy restaurants were closed. We asked the server about gluten free options [Mexican food is inherently GF if you avoid flour tortillas]; she didn't know but brought someone else out who promised to cook GF enchiladas, which were very tasty. Turned out he was the 'boss man'!
They had a good chardonnay for 4.25 for a generous glass.
With careful negotiation a gluten free meal can be had.
