Based on the multiple fab reviews and eating out regularly in Malta we decided to try Lord Nelson. We booked for four people and clearly stated on the reservation it was a birthday dinner. Two of the party arrived about 10mins early and were seated in the dining room alone without any further interaction. The manager disappeared to the kitchen and when the rest of us arrived individually approx. 15mins later there was no one to welcome us. Once we were all there we asked the manager to be served - at this point the 1st guests had been there with no service or acknowledgement for around 25mins. A waiter later appeared and he was polite but very busy. The food was a sad state of affairs - the starters of sweatbreads were tiny, dry and tasteless. The main courses were an even bigger disappointment with 3 brisket dishes having masses of fat on them and the tiniest piece of fish ever - the waiting time was around 45mins from when we got the starters. We then sat around 10mins waiting for the side orders. They never arrived and when we asked the manager where they were he surlily said we'd ordered them 'late' so we need to wait for them. We advised that ordered them the same time as the rest of the meals but cancelled them as our food was getting cold. Even though all dishes were poor we only pointed out one of the beef briskets that was 80% pure fat and gristle. The manager then admitted the chef should not have sent it out and removed it from the bill. The waiter was run off his feet so we constantly had to ask to be served (he was at least friendly) but on the whole it was a very bad birthday experience. For the record they did not bother acknowledging the birthday at all. There are brilliant restaurants in Malta - we eat out almost daily and frequent great places like Caviar&Bull, Blue Elephant, Wigis, Bahia amongst tons of others. Based on our experience all 4 of us would agree: give the Lord Nelson a miss.

Visited with all the family on a Friday evening for my sister's birthday. Since we were a fairly large group (8 people), we were given one of the round tables. I love these tables! It helps the entire group to have one conversation! On Friday evening there was the Maltese night, and we were the only Maltese people in the restaurant. The rest were from all around the world including Asia and Australia. We thought it was quite cool! Staff is very attentive, and Marija (the owner) is always around making sure everything is running smoothly! This time we ordered from the menu, rather than the buffet. The steaks here are to die for. If you haven't tried them, please do! See you again soon!

It's a bit difficult to know where to start as everything was perfect. We were in Malta visiting friends and went to L'Agape on the last night as a group of 4. There is no menu as such - they change the dishes daily so it is a voyage of discovery in some respects! The food was exquisite and plentiful. They offered to do a mix of starters based on that day's menu which was tuna, squid stew, Sicilian sausage stew and bread. The mains we had were tuna steaks, ribeye steaks, beef kebabs and veal escalope - all cooked to perfection. We passed on dessert given the amount of food we tucked away on the first 2 courses. Book early as they are very popular.

The Gelato here was amazing. No need to worry if you have allergies this wonderful little shop had gelato made from lots of alternatives. rice milk, sugar free to name just two. They tasted incredible both the full fat etc varieties and the free from flavours. If you like ice cream you have to try Gelato WoW!!! See for yourself the amazing flavours and the beautiful texture of Gelato. Go on have a treat you will not be disappointed.

l-Vecchio Forno wine bar is situated in the heart of Mosta. Housed within a traditional bakery, the converted interiors are a cosy and relaxing setting. Candle-lit tables, typical Maltese stone walls, paintings and art pieces, and chunky wooden doors all add to the atmosphere.A favourite with Maltese residents Il-Vecchio Forno has a considerable selection of local and foreign wines. The secret ace of the place must however be the still functioning stone oven and the delicious Il Vecchio Forno pizzas that are cooked inside. It also gives the wine bar a homely inviting feel in the colder months of the year . Il Vecchio forno also serves platters, focaccias, salads ,ravioli, and daily specialities such as tipical Italian dishes pappardelle al tartufo, ravioli al cingiale, and linguine vongole. The unique atmosphere is ideal for Birtday parties,Hens\Bachelor parties, graduation and staff parties.Open daily from 7pm onwards.
Located in the main road within walking distance of Mosta Dome, Il Vecchio Forno is the perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine and delicious pizza in a cosy and a relaxed environment. I opted for an Italian style pizza with tomatoes, mozzarella di bufala cheese and fresh basil which was mouthwatering and a perfect choice for summer. Together with a white wine from Campania, Southern Italy, it turned out to be a most enjoyable evening with great friends.

Stumbled upon this restaurant whilst walking through Mosta. It was packed with people but we were given a table immediately. Service was quick, food very good, and the prices are so cheap. Pasta and risotto were 5 euros each and a salad was 4 euros! They also serve gluten free food :)

This is the first time in all of my reviews that I'm giving 1 star (and I hope also the last time) because I prefer to look at the bright sight of something.
In this case it didn't even exist.
We had to wait for 40 minutes for a table while half of the restaurant was empty (it wasn't booked everything though). That's already bad but I think that I was never before treated that disrespectful by a waiter who for 20 minutes didn't even bother to look at us nor talk to us and then let us wait other 20 minutes without knowing what there will be for us. At the same time 3 waiter at the bar had nothing to do but talk to friends.
Then-at the end-we ate. The food not that bad but heavy as hell. That and a minimal treating by the waiters created an ambience of an expensive McDonalds. Loud, without order, the kitchen bell incredibly annoying. And then at the end they didn't even ask for a dessert, nor a coffee but waited for us to go paying on our own. Oh and they first brought the food and then the drinks-that's also something I saw for the first time in my life.
