I was told to go for Ragu for the Tagliatelle I had just learned to hand roll and cut.It was delicious.. there are 2 sides.. the meat shop and the small restaurant that is packed at lunch...Give it a try if you can get in...

We reserved a table at the Piazza del Popolo Restaurant in conjunction with the San Miniato White Truffle Fair and were totally delighted. The place is small, extremely friendly, no English problems, use only natural ingredients. Their home made pasta with shaved truffles and only butter was worth the entire visit.The fair was lots of fun. We connected in less than an hour from Florence - using the regional train and local bus. The bus/train connections could be better coordinated and the Saturday schedule is much better than Sunday. We found it convenient to book a taxi back to the train station. Very helpful information office in the center of town.In addition to truffle sales, there were a great group producers of local cheeses and meats, baked goods and more. A delightful town to walk around in. If you are in the region during one of three November weekends, it is a terrific all around event.We loved it - it was easy to get to and get around.

A lovely lunch on the terrace looking over the valley towards the mountains, and a lunch with some spectacular pasta to match the scenery. I had gnudi with truffle shavings, and all our meals were perfect. Decent prices, not cheap, but perfectly acceptable for a long lazy lunch before a walk up San Miniato's famous tower!

We went for the day to the festival. This restaurant has a terrific view of the valley and is located very near much of the action for the truffle festival. Gnocchi with truffle, pasta with truffle, pork with truffle all good. Tiramisu OK but not to our taste. Poached pear with chocolate good. Service fine - typically Italian - no rush. Took the train from Florence to San Miniato train stop, then city bus to festival. All very convenient and inexpensive. Bus stops right outside train station.
