Don’t expect a menu, don’t expect a wine list, don’t expect anything you can’t get within a 20 mile radius! Do expect simple, delicious, fresh fish, perfectly cooked, respecting the quality of the ingredients used.We had a superb starter of lightly fried swordfish and crispy anchovies, a prima course of monkfish “large” pasta and a superbly cooked sea bass, not to mention two white wines recommended by the house. It was lovely that the restaurant tailored portions to suit a couple. The ethos seems to be, we’ll get beautiful fresh fish, we’ll make it work for you as a course and we’ll show you just how well it can be cooked! The review is redundant as they get the catch of the day every day, so you’ll never have the same experience as we did, but I have every confidence it will be just as enjoyable, so no recommended dishes. A classy venue, worth every penny!

After a great hike we stopped for a lovely lunch. Absolutely delicious pasta bolognese, fresh prosciutto and ricotta and a crema con cafe to die for. The owner was funny and hospitable and Angelo was sweet and attentive, great service. We went back even without hiking to enjoy numerous lunches throughout our stay. A must when you are in this area. Cannot wait to come back

We had some amazing food while touring the Amalfi coast but this place for me, stood out in every way.We travelled down from Maiori especially to visit this deli and it was worth the boat & bus trip. The bus from Amalfi stops 150 meters from Il Rifugio, it was a stunning journey too.You can either just go straight in and eat or you can work up an appetite and take a walk down to the sea and back up again, take water!!! We did the latter and then spent a fabulous couple of hours in the deli garden which is across the road and has spectacular views and lots of shade or sun, whichever you prefer. We started with an Limoncello Spritz & an Aperol Spritz...., we were then delivered the lightest, tastiest pizza style focaccia (I think!) and a mozzarella, chicken, sweet corn & basil salad - amazing! We then shared another mixed platter that we asked the delightful owners to put together for us. This was all washed down with a bottle of the house Rifugio wine.We left with more wine, cake, incredible home made crostini and wonderful memories. If we’d been staying longer I’d have gone back. It’s well worth making the effort to go here even if you’re not staying in the area. You’re very unlikely to regret it.Thank you so much from Praiano on the Amalfi Coast!
