Find out what Welsh restaurants to try in Swansea. Birthplace of poet Dylan Thomas, and the second-largest city in Wales, resilient Swansea offers a slew of leafy parks and some impressive cultural centers, including the new National Waterfront Museum and the renowned Dylan Thomas Centre. Rebuilt after WWII, the modern city of 230,000 has a charming outlook over Swansea Bay and the picturesque, unspoiled 16-mile-long Gower Peninsula, home to rich wildlife, prehistoric standing stones, dramatic cliffs and lovely beaches.

We visited the bar for an early evening supper. On arrival we appeared to be the only customers which did not bother us as we were three friends catching up with each other after several months. The bar meals seemed a little over priced but we hoped this would be compensated for by taste and portion size. I ordered the chicken with chorizo which came with potatoes of the day, on equiring I was told these were new potatoes. I asked if I could have chips instead but was told that I coud not. We agreed to pay extra for a bowl of chips between us . The meals arrived fairly quickly and were tasty however we all felt the portions were very small . We had ordered three different dishes and enjoyed them all but were unanimous in feeling unsatisfied and remained hungry despite the additional chips . None of us have large appertites so this was disappointing. The service was prompt but lack lustre in terms of flexibility and warmth. We all agreed Patricks has sadly lost its mojo and does not represent good value for money. Such a shame. I hope any new owners will turn this around but until such time we wont be returning.

Family Sunday lunch, four adults two children. Drinks and food order taken together, two plates of food arrived within minutes, drinks four or five minutes later, then the rest of the food order. I ordered lamb Sunday dinner, the other adults had beef wich they enjoyed, my lamb was bits and pieces of lamb rolled together and sliced. I could not recognise one slice of lamb. On paying I was asked if everything was ok, I replied by saying that I was dissapointed that the lamb was a meat roll to be met with "Oh". Paid the bill and left. Not again though.

After reading the reviews for Sunday Lunch we thought weâd give it a go. Sorry but I really wasnât impressed! Some people must be easily pleased! All of the veg was frozen ! Plus there was only 4 veg plus roast parsnips! (Peas, carrots, cubes of swede and cabbage). Yorkshire puds were also frozen. The price of £9.95 was expensive for what it was. £10.95 for hubby who chose the lamb. Iâd like to have seen a tureen of cauliflower cheese added for that price. Would we return? Unfortunately not for Sunday lunch but weâve eaten here before during the week and the bar menu is much better.

Saturday lunchStarted with the sharing platter, between 3 of us plenty enough.Good sized portions, will cooked and presented and hot.Drink selection was OK, glasses and cutlery spotless.Could spend a little more on the menus and napkins but this is a petty observation.I really liked the Mermaid and would recommend, a number of dinners had dogs with them not a problem as they were all well behaved. Thanks to the staff who were friendly, intentive and professional. We will be returning.

Went to Diabalo SA1 for fab Sunday lunch while in Swansea. Nice little restaurant in great location by the sail bridge. Everything is fresh, the chef is really talented and her focus is on quality food.We all choose the Sunday Roast. Food was truly excellent with delicious Welsh roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, and a selection of vegetables. Everything was freshly cooked and the cauliflower and broccoli cheese sauce was wonderful. For Dessert we had either the apple tart or pavlova with raspberries and blackcurrants.I have never written a restaurant review before but the quality of the food pursuaded me to share.

OMG - I had a breakfast to die for! Rustic bread, avocado, halloumi, poached egg, tomato and chilli chutney. It was delightfully tasty and each mouthful had to be savoured. The only let down was the last mouthful, as it was delicious. A breakfast I would never have thought of putting together, it was wingding eat. It set me up for the day and inspired me to eat healthily (that day). The menu on the whole was very interesting and the choice for me was difficult. The lunch menu is equally appetising and there is a lunch time deal available. Don't miss this little gem that is hidden upstairs and at the back of the Moda Shop on the Kingsway. The staff are great and the boutique restaurant surroundings are comfortable and professional. Go give it a try

We have been a couple of times and have each time gone with the tasting menu and wine flight. Itâs a small intimate venue which helps focus on the food which is right up there with the best you can get. Certainly in Swansea. Only a 3 person team the chefs downstairs welcome through the door and you can see them hard at work through the window as you enter. Lindsay does all the sourcing and wine tasting so has intimate knowledge of the food and the wine which makes the experience even better. How she manages on her own up and down those stairs is incredible. The quail was top notch. I like the idea of taking traditional food and elevating it. Like the rissole, tea cake and rice pudding( soufflé) just so good. I wish we could go more often. But we will try and go every 7 weeks as they rotate the menu. Highly recommend if you are a foodie.
