We are visitors to the area and driven past the pub on many occasions previously it looked a little shabby rather than chic, this year itâs been refurbished with New Management and looks more inviting so, we dropped in for evening meal. We were warmly welcomed by the new owners and had drinks in the bar while perusing the menu, the pub has a great local feel about it, a good choice of menu. The service was great and our food was excellent, the staff were friendly helpful and attentive without making you feel hurried. We had four different dishes cooked to perfection by their new chef and promptly served to our table. To summarise we enjoyed excellent food, excellent service, good value in a warm and friendly atmosphere and definitely recommend.

A superb little find, in the heart of the picturesque village, Craig Penllyn. Traditional 18th Century building with many original features, including log fires and low beams. Recently under new management, Freehold pub, with weekly guest ales, and a wide
We enjoyed a wonderful lunch here today. The staff were lovely and attentive too. We all shared a generous serve of pate to start our lunch and then we all had the roast beef. The beef was so tasty and render. The Yorkshire pudding was lovely and light with a wonderful flavour. The accompanying roast potatoes, mash, mixed veges were good too. The extra for the cauliflower cheese was so worthwhile. Such a wonderful meal.

We had to wait for 45-50 minutes for our meal to be served. The prices were high whilst the portions were small. The lemon orzo pasta salad in particular consisted of a small layer of rice-size pasta pieces with a large spiral of green nothingness. At £10.50, a rip-off. The waiter (Lorence) seemed to be running the restaurant single-handed and was clearly rushed off his feet. Judging by the delay in receiving our food, the number of staff in the kitchen presumably reflected the lack of staff at the front of house. This was our third (and, I'm afraid, last) visit to The Duke.Hi Gary I'm sorry that you were disappointed with your visit here to the Duke. It's only with feedback, that we can improve on the experience that we provide. I will pass on your comments regarding the portion size to our Catering department. If you would like to discuss your visit with me personally please get in contact at [email protected] RegardsBlair Malins

A traditional country inn full of antiques, we provide homemade, locally sourced cuisine, 7 days and evenings a week. With a succulent roast served daily, and a breakfast, lunchtime and evening menu provided, we truly are the place to dine when you're loo
I visited the Victoria Inn last month for dinner with some friends, food was lovely, the curry had lots of flavour to it and wasnât too spicy! Waiters were very polite and catered to our needs perfectly, it was a busy Saturday night and the waiters were rushed off their feet while the bar staff sat behind the bar on a laptop. I later heard her (Iâm guessing it was the land lady) speak awfully to her staff and I was really unimpressed at how rude she was, most definitely wouldnât want my child to be spoken to the way she was speaking to them.Thank you for your comments and pleased you enjoyed your meal with us.As you have been vague as to when you visited us, its hard to identify who was working that evening, however, its true to say that we run a very happy team, all of which are very much appreciated. What you must have overheard was a bit of friendly banter, as all staff work voluntarily and many have worked at this family run establishment for many years. Also, it is necessary to check dinner reservations as well as B&B reservations on line - which is a necessity for all successful business' in today's digital world.

Chose Arboreal for an impromptu Friday evening meal. The restaurant was busy with a friendly lively atmosphere. We had nachos to share to start follows by pizza and the place special with greens and clams. Both meals were well presented and tasty. Will definitely be returning.

First and foremost, our pub is a thriving local watering hole that has been keeping localsâ thirst at bay for over 300 years. We have a range of great ales, interesting wines, homemade seasonal drinks and a small, daily changing bar menu. Alongside the ba
We heard about this place through recommendations so we decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed the whole evening was fantastic. The dining area is cosy and welcoming thereâs a great atmosphere. The staff especially Tom and the Chefs were wonderful to us. Made us feel really welcome and looked after us. They are friendly and professional but not pretentious in any way. Thatâs exactly how it should be Food was amazing. We went for the taster menu. Every course was tasty and the matching wines were well chosen. A fantastic evening and one we will remember for a long time. Thanks to the Hare and Hounds. Highly recommend

The Carne Arms Llysworney is another pub serving great food, with great atmosphere from Newmill Ventures Ltd. We also have the Star Inn Treoes and THe Ivor Arms in Brynsadler, each serving great pub food with high standards. We look forward to giving you
First visit under the new management. I ordered chicken breast with mozzarella and jalapeños which was served with chips and salad garnish. When the meal arrived it was actually a chicken burger with âplasticâ type chicken in a very dry bread roll. So disappointing as nowhere on the menu does it say it is a burger. Had I known this I would not have ordered it. The chips and salad garnish were ok, the cheesecake dessert was delicious. I would go again but please Carne Arms get the menu right. Also online menu states 2 for £12 but again did not see this on the menu in the pub. Hopefully these are teething problems.

Charming village pub serving home cooked meals, real ales, great wines. We offer a choice for most diners including Gluten Free and Vegan.
After a very warm welcome from Georgie, we were shown to our table. Everything lovely and clean. Food was lovely with no complaints from any of our party of Seven. Enjoyed drinks in the garden afterwards. Lovely pub and friendly staff. Home made gravy and light crispy Yorkshire puddings would have been a five stars. We will visit again even if it is a forty minute drive. Thanks again.
