Cochin (pronounced co-shin) is a casual but slick 60-seat restaurant and bar with dark timbers, earthy interiors and contemporary lighting. Our tapas-style share menu features French Vietnamese dishes like sautéed soft shell crab, beautiful duck a lâorang
There are so many well rated restaurants on Swan Street but Cochin stood out for its mix of good/different food. Very friendly and helpful service throughout, a fairly logical wine list and sparkling water charged for simply, not as a way to boost margin. We cheated and went for (were guided into) the âFeed meâ option. A simple three course feed that was nice but didnât really showcase the best of the menu. Next time, and there definitely will be one, we will choose what appeals instead. We left feeling we chose the right place to dine but sort of knowing we could have eaten better if we had made the effort.

Walked in here early on a Saturday evening when we were amongst the first customers of the night.Staff are super friendly. The menu is extensive and they do cater for gluten free, going to some trouble to ensure they get it right. We had chicken, pork and vegetable dishes and all was excellent. They also do good desserts and, yes, there are gluten free options.Pricing was very reasonable. Will revisit when in Melbourne and looking for a Vietnamese feed.

Rice Paper Scissors is modeled on the hawker dining bars of South East Asia with a shared-eating concept being the focus of our offering. We aim to serve only the freshest ingredients, sourced organically and ethically where possible - and all our sauces,
What an unexpected treat!I stumbled across this place for lunch whilst in the city visiting an art installation. My local friend joined me and said sheâd been trying to dine there for ages (no bookings for evenings).Chose the banquet and where left well beyond full. The smoked chicken salad is to die for. Cocktails are a winner with daily specials and an exquisite Vietnamese inspired take on the classic espresso martini.Looking forward to revisiting soon.

Staying nearby and spoiled for choice in busy Victoria St, we decided on Loi Loi. I asked for steamed chicken with ginger and spring onion but the waitress recommended instead the braised chicken with ginger, saying it was a better dish. When the dish arrived it was on a sizzling plate and lacked any discernible ginger flavour which was a bit disappointing, although otherwise it was a pleasant dish just not what I wanted. We also ate rice paper rolls and seafood combination and overall the food was very good and the servings were generous. They were quite busy and the staff were friendly and efficient although we did have quite a long wait between our rice paper rolls and mains. The only other comment I have is that there seemed to be a list of specials on the wall that was not in the menu, and the dim lighting meant we didn't see the specials on the wall until after ordering. It was a permanent looking list on the wall not a daily changeable list so it would seem easy to have it in the menu book too so that we could easily see what choices were available.

Located in an iconic Melbourne laneway, Hochi Mama is a fun and relaxed restaurant/bar serving up modern Vietnamese-inspired street food. Expect interesting interpretations of traditional classics, as well as more contemporary Asian Fusion menu items. In
Exceptional food and staff...could not fault this restaurant. Great value with their $65 deal for two people with meals that kept all the taste buds firing. Would highly recommend if you are doing a night out at the theatre or even just a nice dinner out.

Casual large eatery for a Saturday lunch with tea on tap. Especially love the rice vermicelli with either roast pork & spring rolls or grilled pork. Great Hainanese Chicken. One of the few places I've come across that do genuine Hanoi-style spirng rolls. Try them, they are really special!
