Siamo una piccola trattoria, accogliente e simpatica.Cucina casalinga e genuina, tradizionale. "Dice si mangia bene.." provare per credere!
We dined here early one Thursday evening during a stopover near Livorno. The surroundings and ambience were very welcoming and cosy, and we felt welcome as soon as we walked in the door.Owing to our punctual dinner, we were the first customers of the evening although the place soon filled with a steady trickle of couples (we got the impression that most were local). We each ate three courses, consisting of salmon, mussels and octopus dishes and a delicious tomato-based starter whose name we cannot remember. All of the food was simply excellent, there is no other word for it.Our waitress was extremely kind, and the proprietor took care to ensure we were enjoying our food - which we surely were.We cannot wait to go back here; our only regret is that we were too full for dessert!Thank you.

Our dishes are shaped on the high quality daily catched fish and are prepared with simple recipes that are adequate to the single product used, trying not to alter the natural taste of it. Our dishes will always be prepared only with seasonal available pr

Went here for dinner, we were 15 minutes early but got ourselves seated outdoor. Once the doors opened the staff looked a bit strange to us and asked if we had a reservation (which we had not). Anyway, we were allowed to stay and we got menu's and a bottle of water. We ordered a starter and a main. Starter was raw fish, one 3 (salmon, cod and tuna) and tuna with small salad. A (pretty big) bread basket was served and after 20 minutes the starters were served. The cubes of fresh raw tuna were huge! Also the quality was very very good. Lean cuts of tuna sashimi with citron and olive oil. Also the 3 -types of raw fish sashimi were vey well made up. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food here. Slowly the place started filling up as well, outside was for around 70% full an inside for more than a half. Inside is quite big, we did not see the inside till we left as there was another entrance at that side (and we entered via the terrace). We both ordered the same main dish. A local "livornian" cod dish with potatoes and tomato sauce. The cod was breaded and covered in sauce with potatoes. The taste of this dish was also more than perfect. We ordered tiramisu as dessert and after another drink we left. Staff was ok but I would say they could be a little more friendly, won't say it was bad (not at all) but they could do better. Maybe it had to do with the fact we just got ourselves seated at the terrace before they opened (don't know, but there was no one so what was the other choice). Anyway if I ever return to Livorno this one is on the list!

Although the garden was attractive at first, we had a most terrible experience: the pizza was severely burnt; we expected the filling to be "mixed vegetables" but we only got what might be "soup-vegetables". The worst was the wine: first we ordered the house wine which we refused as it tasted like old vinegar. So we asked for a bottle of Chianti classico instead. We got a 2001 bottle and again it was undrinkable: too hot, over-ripe, brownish colour. The only consolation was that the owner accepted our complaints and he suggested to drop his bill.

Had an amazing meal at La Fonte del Penitente. The hosts were truly lovely and friendly and the menu was fantastic. Even though the restaurant is predominantly Seafood based (which my family loved), I as a vegan even had delicious options. Dessert was incredible. Super good wine list too and comfortable local feel. Highly highly recommended. Will definitely return next time we are in the area.

Aia della vecchia (Old woman's country yard), is basically a bunch of old country house nested in between Chioma, a small sea resort and Nibbiaia, a country viilage on top of one of the hill surronding the coastal town of Livorno. The road to reach the place is quite winding and can be daunting for some driving down to the main road. Police might be present in the vicinity of Quercianella during week ends to control the flow of might revellers, so do not speed over limits of drive after drinking too much. The restaurant is a beautifully restored country house and offers some traditional Tuscan fares among some original creation. All in all is pretty good although service can be slow, especially at weekends due to the fact that most of the food is cooked on order.Take it easy, enjoy the view and the tranquillity of the place.

This restaurant is a little aways from the train station/city center but offers a great view of another section of Tuscany! I guess you would expect that such a restaurant at this location would be overpriced with mediocre food, but we were pleasantly surprised by both! Two words of caution, we almost didn't get seated on the patio because we came at 3 pm. There is no "warning" on the restaurant's website so plan to eat lunch earlier in the afternoon. Second, getting a cab from the restaurant back to the city (or in our case the train station) takes a bit f time and we ended up missing our train. So just another thing to plan accordingly for ahead of time.

Top quality seafood created with imagination. I also loved the wines offered by the staff. Not a cheap restaurant, yet, completely worth the price. You better do reservation in time, because it is full all the time, at least during summer.
