This is (among other things) a great spot to take a lunch break when driving the A1. It's easy to reach, the food is excellent and it's cheap. We had good pastas (inc. vongole, as it was on the weekend) and tagliati.

We saw this place on the night of our arrival and booked for the next - it's popular, especially on the outside terrace overlooking the Lake at height with a beautiful sunset. We were lucky enough to get a front line view overlooking the lake. Definitely my favourite meal - they do lots of lake fish and I had tench with light breadcrumbs and a mixed side salad - really exceptional. Not overly expensive, and nice choice of local and international wines. I would thoroughly recommend this place.Dear Guest, one of the many surprises awaiting you during your stay at Lake Trasimeno and in Umbria in general is most certainly the discovery of the regionâs celebrated foods and wines, all strongly linked to the places where they are produced. DOC wines (among them, Colli del Trasimeno, Montefalco, Orvieto and Torgiano), fine extra virgin olive oil, fish from the lake (carp, eel, perch and tench) and speciality meat dishes inland make Umbria also worth discovering for its exceptional cuisine! Thanks,Ristorante La Cantina
We went for lunch after arriving at a nearby Agriturismo, based on our hosts' recommendation. It did not disappoint. Food is high quality, service is delightful and prices are very reasonable. Wine from Palazza Vecchio is very good and not expensive. We enjoyed lunch so much we returned for dinner another night. They don't close between lunch and dinner, which is a plus if you don't want a late dinner.

Went here after walking around looking for some thing to at that was a little more quaint and eclectic looking. Saw this little restaurant that had some outdoor seating with free Internet. Sat down and the owner waited on me. He was very friendly but per burdened with customers and probably needed more staff on but I was ok because I was outside and drinking some house wine. The antipasto was not good at all. Cheese was subpar and the meats were mealy and cut to thick. The pane and vino were nice. The chiana piece of meat was excellent but was not crazy about the contorni selection. Overall a nice night and ok meal but next time I will try the pasta which they make fresh.

We stopped in for lunch and were delighted we chose this place, as the waiter was kind and welcoming and explained the house specialties. We left it up to him to bring us the best plates, stipulating we wanted lake fish and regional dishes. He didn't steer us wrong, with incredible food all from local ingredients. Do not miss the mixed fish bruschetta, I will dream about them for some time to come. Pastas were light and the grilled fish was delicate but flavorful. A great local wine, and the good service...it's a winner!

Our Restaurant is small and welcoming,is located on the main steps that lead to the historical center of Castiglione Del Lago with a lake view.We offer you ,in a family atmospher,a tipical cuisine of Umbria and Tuscany, very simple, homemade,as made from ou
We called at this Osteria for Pranzo just after we had arrived in C d L as it was close to where we were staying. First impressions were of a traditional small family owned restaurant with lots of pictures of the local area around the lake stretching back to the early 20th century. What followed was a meal where the ingredients spoke for themselves and were prepared simply and sympathetically by someone who obviously loves food. (like me) Roberto introduced himself at the end of the meal after I had commented on how good it was to his wife who serves up the food. We had quite a long chat about it although as our Italian is not that advanced we could not avoid the coccasional consult with Google translate. He explained about the rare breed pig (Cinta Sinese) he sources from the region of Siena inTuscany which has now been given DOP status. Forget bland, white (often dry) meat we have become used to when eating pork. This is completely different and delicious and a cross between Cingiale (Wild Boar ) and domestic pig. The animals are reared in the semi-wild and forage for sweet and bitter acorns, tubers and tuffles. The Starter platter of Prosciutto, Salami, Capo Collo all from this breed is outstanding and if served up by top London restaurants would probably cost a fortune We live in neighbouring Marche where salumi is also good but the rare breed of pork used here and the subtle use of fennel in Tuscan Salumi elevated it to something really special. The pork menu alone should make this place a must visit. Roberto also cooks lake fish, such as perch, persico and carp (the latter not really my cup of tea but , nevertheless well prepared and roasted with pork 'lardo' and fennel for those that DO like it) which we tried on or 2nd visit just before we returned home after our 4 day break.. I was surprised how quiet Trasimeno was (mid July) and even more surprised how quiet this restaurant was at lunchtime on a Friday. Given all of the above, the prices were modest and, this Osteria deserves a wider and bigger audience than it appears to have at the moment based on our two visits particularly with the produce on offer. Will certainly be back on our next visit. Cannot wait!Grazieeeee un saluto grande da Agnese,Roberto

One of my favorite places to eat. No... my most favorite place to eat. Great food, traditional but not overly simple, reasonable priced. Try the appetizer's plate for two people, but don't plan for a full meal after it!Even the Pizza is excellent and biiigg!

This town is truly stunning peppered with quality shops and restaurants. We were spoiled for choice, but settled for this restaurant & and were not disappointed! Everything about the restaurant spoke quality. This was one of the very few restaurants that Iâve had cheese fondue! Cured meats and bean Zuppa featured, but I settled for the Mozzarella di Bufala salad .
