The dramatic and romantic desert fortress of Jaisalmer is an exotic city in Rajasthan’s great Thar Desert. "The Golden City" rose to prominence as a result of its position on camel trade routes. It's now most famous for the 12th-century fort and ornate "Havelis," fine merchant-built houses and pavilions in the city’s medieval lanes. The surrounding Desert National Park offers opportunities to observe blackbucks, desert foxes and chinkaras amid the rolling dunes, rugged crags and waterholes.

We waited 1h and a half for an average meal. We ordered some veg momos and spinach ones, which tastes like they hadn't been cleaned properly. Then we also ordered a lasagna that didn't taste like it. After such a long time waiting, at least we expected a tasty meal that we didn't had. The waiter told us there had been an event and that is why it took so long. It had been nice to know the waiting time in advance though, as we were hungry so we could have choose to go somewhere else.

I stumbled across the new Jaisal Cafe right in the middle of the maze of streets that is the Golden Fort in Jaisalmer. The sign promised a great view from the roof top terrace and I certainly wasn't disappointed. As I lay on the mattresses enjoying my coffee, I could see both the tops of the buildings around (always fascinating!) and over the city and into the desert beyond. It really felt rather decadent! Afterwards, as I was paying, the young owner (who speaks very good English) showed me into the original very old but beautifully created main room. Worth a visit I can tell you! Not only did he tell me that the building has been in his family for generations but it also featured in a major Bollywood film made in 2007. He also showed me an excellent video of how the view from the top looks at sunset. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the Jaisal Cafe and I hope it is very successful.Dear Guest, Greetings from all of us at JAISAL cafe jaisalmer . Thank you for your time taken to share your dining.
