Not Actually Almora, But far above where the beautiful views are in Mat Village, also known as "Kasar Devi". A short walk from Kasar Devi Mandira, and right next to Ewam Choekhor Ling retreat center. Dolma Restaurant is connected to New Dolma Hotel. Operated by a Lovely Tibetan family who have been here in Kasar Devi Since the time of the British Raj. I can only speak of the vegetarian fare, and in this category I can say that their veg thali is acceptable, while Tibetan cuisine is the best option here.

If you are on your way to Binsar or if you are touring the lovely meadows of Almora district, dont hesitate to visit Kasar Kitchen. Since I am a hard-core non-vegetarian and I was having a vegetarian tour of Uttarakhand, chancing upon Kasar Kitchen was like a blessing to me. It was off-season and most of the roadside eateries had their shutters down due to lack of tourists. When I discovered Kasar Kitchen on my way to Binsar, I was not sure what all it could offer and it was completely out of my imagination that it had a splendid sitting area inside overlooking the Himalayas. Kasar Kitchen is located in Deenapani, right next to Deenapani Tourist Rest House (KMVN) on Kasar Devi-Binsar Road. What attracted me to this shanty looking place was a foreign tourist who had parked his Royal Enfield infront and was checking the bike. A boy emerged from inside and handed over an aluminium foil to the foreign tourist. I was sure he was all set for a bike adventure and was waiting for the food to be packed. I walked inside Kasar Kitchen to discover a splendid restaurant in a natural set up. While it offered seating arrangement for people indoors, the most attractive part was the rickety seating arrangement outdoors. Overlooking the Himalayas and a green valley which changed shades with the movement of the Sun, Kasar Kitchen offered us a very picturesque view. I felt as if I could spend an entire day with a book and some coffee, some soup, some sandwiches or even a pizza over here. The best part of Kasar Kitchen is its variety of menu. Since it caters to a lot of tourists, it ensured to offer some cuisines to suit all appetites. Right from pizza, pasta, Maggi to sandwiches, biriyani, paratha and chicken curry, sabji, rice, fried rice, noodles, it offered everything. After speaking to the owner, who happens to be a Hospitality management graduate with rich experience in the hospitality industry, we came to know that Deenapani received a lot of tourists from Israel. To cater to them, Kasar Kitchen kept provision for all kinds of cuisine.
