A friend told us about this place. He said "it's a hole in the wall" but great food, even better than Sawadee and great prices. Agreed. The service was great and food excellent. Prices were not as high as Sawadees as well. Going to the bathroom was an adventure. Lol. I had to go through the kitchen where they were cooking. Be careful. Lol

I love Thai food but am a bit picky on it. We were trying to find a place to eat while in the area and wait out traffic a bit after leaving San Francisco. We happened to find Sala Thai and stopped in to check it out. Ordered appetizers and a meal which all came up quickly. Service was excellent and the food was delicious! Loved this little gem, would definitely visit again if we were in the area.
You know the watered down Thai restaurants that make you think you are dining at Panda Express. Well I found one that is much more authentic. the dishes have flavor that is not the bland fiery hot. Deeper flavors with subtle tastes. Just had two dishes for lunch. A classic Larb with prok and a Boat noodle with beef. The broth had a deep flavor make from Niman Ranch beef and subtle smoked pepper flavor but the key is.... You look it up to find the secret ingredient. It's on our regular dining list now. BTW they serve premade dishes to take home.
Coming from a different area it has been immensely complicated to find a bowl of decent pho... I have found my go-to spot for savory bowls of pho in this location!! The selection is slightly lacking from what I am used to, but each bowl and its broth are unique and that alone makes them stand out. I recommend always tasting your bowl of pho and really letting the broth ruminate in your mouth before going to town with additions of jalapenos, sprouts, house made chili paste, sriracha or hoisin sauces. It's worth that extra moment of savoring. The fried chicken appetizer has a mouth popping flavor in the chosen batter... great with or without the provided dipping sauce. There are only a few gripes that I have - 1. the shakes (with or without boba) are much smaller than advertised on the posters - complete overpricing for the size you receive. 2. most of the servers do not come around often enough to refill water glasses. 3. they do not take american express, since I am here often enough it would be nice to be earning points!! LOL 4. Garlic Shrimp have nowhere near enough garlic.I have read some of the other reviews about insects being found in dishes and on our many visits we have never experience such things. The restaurant doesn't have any odd smells when you walk in and it has never been stuffy, in fact it is usually cold inside the restaurant no matter what time of year.Happy Pho HuntingPS They aren't quite wheelchair accessible yet, but they are building a ramp as of January 2016

Hadn't been there in a while. A little disappointed this time. Food seemed bland (mussels were tasteless without hot sauce). Previously, wait staff wore Thai outfits; now they're just in basic clothes. Food used to come in attractive metal containers; now just regular dishes. Don't know if ownership changed, but not hurrying back. Better Thai restaurants all around the area.
