Reviews on Thai food in Male, Kaafu Atoll, Maldives. The island capital of the Maldives teems with high rises and narrow streets, all ringed by seawalls. Shopaholics can savor Male's flavors in the local markets, which are packed with fresh produce, and along Chaandanee Magu, the spot for local souvenirs, such as carved wooden dhonis, miniature replicas of the boats dotting area waters. Compared to many other restaurants in Male´, this one is above the average. The service is slow but the food compensates for it. The prices are also quite reasonable. I´d say their greatest area of opportunity is that the restaurant could be cleaner and look nicer.

As soon as I walked in, I was not only greeted by a friendly, smiling waiter, but I was also engulfed in aromas of fried garlic and Thai cooking. The decor and some little touches in the interior reminded me of Thailand, and the jovial chatter in Thai from the woman in the background completed the picture. I was temporarily transported to a what could be a little café somewhere in Thailand. I ordered a Som Tam, which I found not spicy enough. I should have called to the kitchen Phet Phet! (Hot hot!)I also had deep fried fish in sweet and sour sauce. I was expecting little battered pieces of fish in a sweet and gloopy sauce at worst, but I was well chuffed with the big chunks from a clearly enormous fish of unknown name, that I got. (See picture). The fried rice was nice and enough for at least 2 people. I also had a Thai ice tea. Which I asked to be made not to sweet. It was perfect for me. The bill came to US$32. Not cheap for Malé. But I was happy to pay it.

Authentic Thai dishes, fried chicken wrapped in pandanus leaves with Thai sauce, spicy prawns, Thai green curry, Thai salads.
We found this on our way to another thai restaurant. Decided to try here instead. Pkace had an odd ambiance but then a kind Sri Lankan waiter appeared and doted over us like a professional butler. He told us what to order and looked after us like we were royalty. We had the spring rolls, tom yum soup and a chicken curry with rice - verdict - excellent 10 out of 10. True to name thai food - and we are fussy feeders.

Surprised to find such good authentic Thai food in Male.We had Pandan Leaf chicken, red curry, pad Thai, ban kee meow, and egg omelette. All of the dishes were pretty good.Only downside is the price but then again, most things in this touristy place is pricey so this was still within expectations.Dear Stephen,Thank you for the kind review, all our kitchen staff are from Thailand and we do use only ingredients from Thailand, so we are proud to say that our Thai food is authentic,Unfortunately as you mentioned, the expense level in the Maldives is extremely high, leaves us no room for less than we need to ask for, sorry for that, I wish it could be done differently,Warmest Regards Thiomas
