Thai House Restaurant

We had lunch here with friends recently. This is a small, nicely decorated restaurant with wood-paneling and charming Thai pictures on the walls. We arrived just at opening time, and the space filled up quickly with other diners from the neighborhood. One thing we liked about the menu is that you can choose your “heat level.” Three of us had dishes with two stars of heat, and my husband got his hotter three-star dish. All of us were pleased with the results. Three of us had Pad Thai–-which is my favorite Thai dish. I liked my version with chicken. My husband opted for pork. Our friend liked her crispy basil chicken. I tasted it and thought it was good, but I liked my Pad Thai better. Our waitress was friendly although we had a little trouble communicating. The iced tea was good. It’s always good to find a bunch of ethnic diners in an ethnic restaurant.

Been there several times and will do so - the food is irresistible! They can make it spicy as you want and that's the favorite part! Food quality is consistent and so is the service. Red curry (spiced-up) is one of all our all-time favs.

Invited by a friend, I had my lunch here on a Sunday afternoon. Tucked away from other stores and restaurants at the Shopping Center, it is located behind the Panera Restaurant. It is a small restaurant with about 10 tables inside. We ordered from the Lunch Special Menu where all the dishes are $8.99 each. The dish comes with either Fried Spring Roll, Soup or Salad. I ordered 2 dishes: Vegetable Dish with Rice and Chicken Fried Rice while my friend ordered the Fat Noodle Dish (not the exact name). For desserts, we shared the Sticky Rice with Mangoes and Fried Bananas. Total of all these foods is $38 plus tip.Serving sizes are big! They are very delicious, particularly the Fat Noodles which my friend gave me a little serving. My Fried Rice has plenty of pieces of tasty chicken while my Vegetarian Dish has crunchy, flavorful vegetables. Took home my leftovers.Kat is our server. She is friendly and quickly attended to our needs with a smile! I will definitely come back here and try their other dishes or order them online for delivery. Highly recommended!

Nothing to write home about. Food was mediocre. Pineapple chicken and shrimp was bland. Dumplings advertised as 10 steam or fried. You get 6 and they came from a factory obviously frozen. Not worth the money. Place was clean parking easy.

Tara Thai

Reviewed By Keydawn

Tara Thai is a reliable, respectable, presentable, pleasant eatery. You can always expect delicious food, fancy presentation, reasonable price, and perhaps better service than mom & pop Thai restaurant but not quite up to the American standard in that, usually the servers are exclusively new immigrants or foreigners. Though in Thailand, the gap between the rich and poor is very pronounced, as they do have the wealthy class (or the well-to-do relative to the poor) and servant class, the latter exhibits the kind of humility, attention to detail, servant heart you would expect of their social cast. But if they made it here to the states, they are more likely of the emerging middle class seeking a better life in the US, they tend not to exhibit the kind of servanthood they would expect of their maids back home, yet they have not been here long enough to pick up the American hospitality culture, where the good ones know their job is to make the experience pleasant and as enjoyable as human possible for you and they will be duly rewarded with a nice tip...but I must say I hate it when the poorly coached American waitress comes around to ask you how's everything or the food or do you want anything more? If they have to ask, the wait staff has already failed in their waiting. You have to pick through the menu to separate out the Thai food from the Chinese food, and what I hate the most, separate out authentic Thai food from the Thai food made for the American palate or culture. Whenever I ask the manager or proprietor as why it isn't done the Thai way, they always come back and said that the American customers won't like it if done properly, you know, like the spicy level. Yes, I do understand, this is true of the average Chinese restaurants. But it's such a shame. This is what I have learned to do when eating in a Thai restaurant, with much success, and I have brought guests here to Tara Thai Rio in the past, I limit my orders to the "authentic" appetizers and extra rice to go with them, skipping the main entrees altogether, and we share all the exotic dishes between us. That's how the Asians enjoy a meal, it's a communal experience, not 4 people ordering exactly the same 4 entrees and thus learn nothing about Thai food or explore the menu of the eatery.See the photographs for my comments on the ones we ordered (and I remembered to photograph). Skip the Pad Thai, it's too wet and too sweet.
