Things to do in Coolangatta
Laneway Bar and Dining is a unique cocktail & tapas bar located in the hub of Coolangatta.
Went to Laneway for tapas/drinks on a Saturday night. Venue has an intimate relaxed vibe, great place for a get together with friends - not too loud for a chat.But..as they are newly opened, theres room for improvement.Bar was under staffed and a lengthy wait to order cocktails (although they tasted great) and get water for table. Some of the food was over priced - especially the small bowl of sautéed vege (which looked like a cabbage salad packet from woolies) in soy sauce for $11.Mushrooms topped with braised beef was too salty to finish. Will be back again, but will give them some time to find their feet.

Stopped off for dinner. Ordered steamed dim sims, chicken laksa with roti and Singapore noodles. Dim Sims were home made and nice. Noodles were good. Laksa was more like a thick massaman curry and the roti was oily and not edible. Small cafe with seating for no more than 15 people. Tables where patrons had finished were left stacked with the dirty plates despite it not being a busy night. Not a great experience.

From the street it looks nothing, being downstairs with a few tables up on the footpath. A mixed asian menu featuring malaysian, chinese & thai.Decided to give it a go & very happy we did. A reasonably busy small restauraunt had the staff very busy but they were extremely competent & flitted around delivering food & drinks, taking orders, dropping off table water, cleaning tables & delivering invoices. The menu was divided by cuisines & we tried a couple of entrees & 4 main meals (main meals come with a bowl of rice). The food was excellent although we didn't eat any malaysian meals satisfying ourselves with chinese & thai options. All the meals were good - probably wouldn't worry about the entrees next time as OK but the mains were better. Our main choices included beef & black bean, sizzling port, a chicken capatain & a chicken noodle.Too much to finish but the staff were happy to provided takeaway dishes for the leftovers. Reasonably priced.A full bar available plus bottled tap water. Air conditioned downstairs, plus a few tables out on the footpath.A real suprise & would certainly go back.

We are happy to travel the length of the Gold coast to enjoy eating here. Always very friendly. Food always tastes very fresh. You can see the kitchen and how your meal is being made. Would recommend the whole steamed fish, yellow curry, pad satay...have tried a lot of the menu and not had a bad one yet.

My wife and I wanted a quick meal before attending a conference event. We arrived at opening time and received a friendly welcome. We were the only people there when we placed our order but it was still quite a while before the food arrived. The waitress did give us a couple of vegetable samosas to keep us going. My wife was pleased with her stir fry dish and my green curry was average. The ambience was ok but nothing special.

We absolutely love this restaurant and Danny the owner is an amazing chef.... however..... when he is not there the quality and service is lacking, im so disappointed. We had a party of 5 and our rice came out quickly and was cold before our mains were served, this is the First time this has happened! Our waitress was not very friendly and the portion size has shrunk dramatically! This is a great place and Its usually so busy but I noticed its not as popular and now I understand why. If you are paying out 20.90 for a main and get a small amount you feel ripped off. Customer service has also declined, I hope this is Not the new norm!!
