If you have ever been to Thailand and enjoyed the local food, whether it was in a city or more rural: go to De Witte Olifant in Balen, Belgium to have the same experience again! The food is simply magnificent (ask for their delicious 'prik nam pla' to spice up your meal). The staff is extremely friendly and they speak Flemish (local language), English and obviously Thai also. No matter what dish you go for, we've tried a lot on their menu and it was never disappointing - on the contrary! The prices are reasonable and De Witte Olifant has also a nice selection of wines and beers on offer. Parking is never a problem, plenty of parking spots in the street. We live half an hour from the restaurant but we still visit De Witte Olifant a few times per month. Absolutely brilliant!!

Rang this place to book a table and spoke with Maya (who did not want to know my name, so I volunteered it and asked for hers..). Agreed on a table for 4 at 6.30. Turned up on time, but were told that there was not table. Waiter shrugged his shoulders and asked a lady behind the counter (Maya?), who then told us to go sit at some improvised table next to the toilet.... Not one single word of apology, nothing.

Vandaag voor de tweede keer afgehaald.Je moet wel echt van te voren bellen want alles a la minute gemaakt en dan kan t lang duren eer je bestelling klaar is.Wij hadden loempiaâs met kip ( 6 euro voor 6 stuks). Lekker en royale portie.TOM KHA KAI is soep met kipfilet, champions, tomaat, kokosmelk,koriander voor 6.50 Euro en daar eet je met zn 2-en van. Iets te zoet en oppassen voor de stukken on eetbare citroengras en bladen. Voor de rest goed.SOM TAM THAI is een salade metpapaya, wortel, etc. Let wel dit is dus niet de zoete papaya maar de â groenten variantâ. We hadden t pepertje op de menukaart niet gezien en dat was te merken. Te pikant voor de tafelgenoot. Lang verhaal kort. Goed eten voor een eerlijke prijs!
