There are 2 famous Beef Noodle Shops opposite each other on Tao Yuan St. We tried the one with 2 levels and weren't disappointed. Very simple and humble settings but the food does the talking. We tried both the spicy and plain broth versions as well as their steamed pork ribs dish.Soooo delicious. Would have gone back for another bowl if I had more time in Taipei

Have you heard all the fuzz about the famous soup dumplings when traveling to Taipei? Well, your visit wonât be complete if you miss the opportunity to go to the home of Xiaolongbao. Whatever you read, heard or saw is understated. If you want to avoid long queues, then go during the week to any of the outlets other than the original one and outside of meal timings, you wonât regret the experience.

This was our third and final Din Tai Fung restaurant of our trip and it certainly lived up to the standards set by the other two we visited. Amazing dumplings, tremendous service and a fair price, what more could you want!

They sell small bowls of flavourful porridges currently at NT$15/bowl=approx 50 cents US. Most can handle at least 2 bowls@if you are into that kind of food. Then individual dish varies $50-60@ (US $2@), so by US standards you can really have a feast and not even make a dent in the pocket book.On this visit we had their most requested fried pork-- big piece that chopped into bite size and portion about the size of a small palm, thinly sliced ginger and their special sauce. It's quite good. The other dishes were the red sausage (not liking too much), sliced bamboo shoots (very good) again with the thicken sweet soy and tender boiled pork liver. The bill came to a cheap NT$310, about US$10. Filling, delicious meal for 2.The place was fast pace and full of customers eating in and to go.

Opened its door on 1965, Umeko Taiwanese Restaurant authentic Taiwanese cuisine serving international guests for over fifty years with top quality produce and the irreplaceable ingredients of pride, tradition, and excellence. Located in Historic Liu Tiao
In principle, Iâd give 4.5 stars as it really is a good restaurant with very friendly waitresses (who even speak a bit of English, especially the elder lady owner)... the only âproblemâ was that I had eaten in the sister restaurant (right opposite) the night before. Dear kla2015Thank you for sharing your "problem" with us and we are delighted that you visited both our Umeko Taiwanese Restaurant and Japanese Restaurant right across the street from each other. There are very few restaurants in Taipei over 50 years of same-owner history, we are very proud of this fact. We also want to THANK YOU for your support and happy that you enjoyed your dinning experiences twice.

People say Beef Noodle of the King is th4e favorite of one of the richest men in Asia, the Chairman of Foxconn. Certainly, it is down-home, authentic, unpretentious. Glad to have tried it, vetainly worth a visit just to say you've been!

This is one of the famous buffet hotpot shop and is recommended by locals. There are a few branches and it's good to make advanced reservations. Prices vary for lunch and dinner. You're given two hours to dine in, however, the time starts when you're assigned a table. You get to choose two soup bases from the five available. You also get to four choices of different cuts of meat - beef, pork, lamb, squid or shrimp paste. These can be replenished. Bring the plates on your table to get other raw ingredients, including vegetables, different types of meatballs, seafood. You can make your own dipping sauce too. Beverages choices include teas, beer, canned drinks, and many cold drinks. During my visit, rice and curry are available too. There's also various fruits, cakes and puddings. 20 choices of Movenpick and Haagen Dazs ice cream are available too. Overall, the choices make it worth your money, however, do time your meal wisely in order to enjoy desserts too.
