We went to this restaurant based on the reviews and we were not disappointed. Good food and quiet atmosphere made for a great night. Don't miss this restaurant.

Wonderful first floor restaurant, excellent wines and an interesting concept.Small portions allow you to select from a variety of dishes. Well prepared and served with passion. Just the right stuff for two middle aged men after a hard works day. Trust you will enjoy as much as we did, maybe also after working or on a celebratory occasion.

I felt very lucky to have found this place. The cosy atmosphere created by the low, slanted roof, the heavy wooden furniture, old stove, dimmed lights and white tablecloths was just what I wanted on a dark September evening. And the home-made, buttery rösti with the delicious veal sausage (a local speciality) in dark gravy & onion sauce were cooked to perfection. Service was attentive, and even though I dined solo, I never felt awkward. Oh, and the prices for such a quality meal in Switzerland were totally reasonable - would definitely return!

Heeps of tasty morsels: our evening was palate-tickling at its best! a Wonderful experience: haute cuisine but astonishing light and some really nice wine drops, and what a surprise: (all) best wines available by glass - my favourites: a Sauvignon blanc from the Austrian Steiermark and a blend of Syraz and Mourvèdre from the French Languedoc-Roussillon. Food and wine: not really cheap but worth a detour!

This is a restaurant inside a brewery but you wouldnât know except that there is a beer menu. Sadly I was driving. We had a mixture of main courses, chicken on tandoori vegetables, rock lobster (crayfish) ravioli with polenta and spinach, good fish. Service friendly but waitresses struggle with High German. Stick to English. Prices quite high for the provinces . Parking round the back. Situated outside the central old town. Pity about the nasty muzak.

Went to this bistro for dinner on a Monday night, when many of the other restaurants in the area were closed. The service was excellent and staff were attentive. The food was quite good and well presented. Nice atmosphere, located in the old town area, a couple blocks from the abbey cathedral. Prices a bit higher than expected, a bit fancier than other bistros, more of a fine restaurant. There was a special event of some type going on in the adjacent bar, so we were treated to some excellent piano music, courtesy of the guest pianist. A topnotch dining experience.Dear OregonOpus,Thank you very much for taking the time to review your dinner at the Bistro St.Gallen. We are very pleased that you enjoyed our menu and that we were impressed by the staff. Already now we are looking forward to welcome you back to the Bistro, the Einstein Bar or the Einstein Gourmet.Best regards,Michael VogtGeneral ManagerBistro - Gourmet - Bar

We were visiting family in Switzerland and decided last minute go have a diner after shopping. We entered the restaurant and a friendly waitress told us no problem for table for 4. She went back to get menus, when she shortly talked to a male waiter. He looked us up and down, shaked a head at a waitress... she turned around and walk back apologizing they are âfullâ and recommended some sub-par restaurant for us.My mother in law (80) was truly offended, so were we. We did not look like bums, just regular jeans and jackets. I guess we were not good enough for them... I was never treated so rudely by restaurant in my life and was in much more upscale restaurants...Dear diverMissWe do remember your visit very well and we still are sorry that we could not welcome you in our restaurant that evening. Unfortunately we were fully booked that evening. We had some empty tables in the main restaurant but we also had some large banquets in the upper floors of the restaurant and as we always want to give our best for our costumers we decided not to take more costumers that evening. There was a sign at the entrance door of the restaurant saying: We are sorry, we are fully booked. Obviously you did not see this sign, so we had to tell you again upstairs that we are not able to serve you and we were sorry about it! We would be very happy to welcome you again and prove you that we do know costumer service! Kind regardsThe Schlössli Team

Great service, great wild game dishes variety, reasonably priced when compared with other Switzerland restaurant prices. Superb service. Hotel layout a bit cramped, they do get quite a crowd after 9pm with a cozy, local bar in the premises.
