unfortunately the scandic was undergoing new owners and the ballroom was being revamped.so the hotel was a little chaotic. but when I revisited a year later all was done. The old ballroom was sadly no more, sacrilege, decimation on early lovely swedish art work, instead of the proposed refurb and restoration, all was gutted and the rest covered up and a ghastly modern white contemporary space devoid of any atmosphere.as the new brekfast room.what a senclis waste. The rest of the hotel is full of traditional progres in very thoughtful aesthetic work. the rooms are lovely, I trust they get their service attitude sorted.

I was here for lunch and it was excellent. I had a chicken salad and glass of wine and both were well priced, served quickly and excellent value. The house wine was particularly good and not ridiculously priced like many bars and restaurants in Sweden.Later the same day I returned to have a few drinks in the evening as I was so impressed by the service and selection at lunch time. This place has a great courtyard as well as a view onto the main square in Linkoping. It was the start of summer while I visited and so lots of people out and about all the time and this place certainly was popular.

If you love beer, a cosy place with great food and good service then you must try Malt Och Humle. Not that many alternatives on the menu but the ones they have are great, they also have 2 different dishes every day on their chalkboard. Tried the fish and shellfish stew. Perfect amount of food and really tasty, maybe should have had some more shellish in it but other then that a great dish.Really recommend you try it out and try some of their different beers they have.

We've enjoyed eating here in the past, but this time we were disappointed. We ordered the "plank steak" and I wish I hadn't. This dish should be all about the meat and the delicious garnishes, above all the buttery, fluffy, home made sauce bearnaise. This plank was drowned in an absolute tsunami of potato puré. About 75% of the dish consisted of potato. This ratio made the dish all wrong. The garnish was scared-looking little sprig of beans. There should be grilled tomatoes and other nice things, but here, there was potato. And potato. The meat was good. It was. But the horriblest sauce bearnaise I've ever tasted ruined the meal. It consisted of a sour, vinegary, synthetic-looking unguent which left an awful sticky feeling in the mouth. Too bad.

So friendly and personal staff/owners.Eat in. take-out, just go!

Staying at the Elite Stora Hotellet across the square, I headed over to Ãverste Mörner for a quick bite since the fancier restaurant Storan in the hotel was booked for a private party. The place has a pub feel, nothing fancy or particularly cozy. The Happy Hour/After Work offers sounded good, and the place was packed. But the Smashburger was tiny (it said "double" but double what? In my mind it was regular, leaning towards small, and definitely not double!), with very little of the advertised Bloody Mary ketchup, Bourbon mustard (or something) and sautéed onions. Had to ask for extra Bloody Mary ketchup because it tasted dry. Fries were plentiful and alioli dip ok, but my neighbour's country fries looked much better! The choice of Happy Hour beers was pityful, so it was a pretty dismal meal... Perhaps all the locals order other things off the menu, which explains its popularity, but I was not impressed... Sorry!

We were a party ot four, sharing a 900kr T-bone and a Rib-eye. the T-bone came recommended from the waitress as a great buy to share. I've had many great tasting steaks in my life, this was certainly not of them. The meat is suppose to hang for 4-5 weeks to be extra tender. But the meat was chewy and not as tender as expected. We asked the waitress about this and the response was, "due to thickness of the steak, this can happen" I was disappointed to say the least.Service was you ordinary Swedish style, i.e rather poor. we waited for 20-30 min before we had a drink in our hands.Rico is nicely decorated and stylish, the dining room is very nice looking, but the staff? If I pay 900 SEK for a steak and the staff comes in sloppy shirts and running shoes on their feet.. not exactly your upper class steak house. So the verdict is average, pay up but don't expect the food to match the prices

Sannes Coffee is a food place in the middle of a shopping mall next to IKEA. This location is really nothing special but still the food is extremely tasty. They have simple dishes such as salads and döner kebab. Also you can have coffee, cake and ice cream.

Johannes Kok is a so-called Steakhouse located in downtown Linköping.Well, the venue is cozy though a but constricted and dark. The waiters are really efficient though neither kind nor smiling. The food is good though the menu offers (very very very) limited options.A bit overpriced too.And oh... got annoyed by the fact that the restaurant shares its lavatories with people from outside. When you dine in on a Friday or Saturday night, you get annoyed by : 1) drunken people super noisy, loudy, peeping at the restaurant 2) drunken people super noisy, loudy, peeing everywhere but in the toilet itself.

Stangs Magasin is located just outside the city centre in an old charming 19th century stone building located by the small river. Getting in from the frosty cold, the restaurant was warm and cosy with a distinct Scandinavian feel. The waitress was very friendly and her English was excellent. Beautiful decorated table with white table cloth. Generally, we find the menus in Swedish restaurants are dominated by steaks and burgers but that must be what the natives prefer. Though the pinnacle on Stangs Magasinâs menu is a steak, they did have some attractive alternatives. My wife choose the prawns on toast dish for starter while I had the thinly sliced scallops with fried onion rings and pieces of grapefruit. A very refreshing starter, rare to have grapefruit with a starter but it really went well with the scallop. Only complaint was that I would have like more scallop. We choose a Chardonnay from Oregon that with its oaky bouquet with citrus flavours was far better wine than expected. As we love fish, we both had the arctic char a fish that we hadnât tried before. The fish was beautifully presented with fish roe, parsley on a bed of parsnip mash. The delicate flavours of the fish really went well with the vegetables and the Chardonnay. Highly recommended.
