This place is great. It is a minute walk from the main Marugame-machi shopping strip, in downtown Takamatsu. The place offers fresh local seafood, affordable regional Sake (Jizake) from different regions of Japan, and great presentation of food that gets customers excited in lively atmosphere. Their Sashimi boat, enough to be shared by 2-3 people, presents the fresh catch of the day, and you can taylor the content of fish choice by choosing from their list. Sushi set is a great value too, and so are the Tempura. It's fun to watch them fry Tempura or prepare Sashimi/Sushi in front of you, which you can enjoy if you set at the counter. I highly recommend you try different regional Sake cold, and compare the taste - some are sweet, some are dry. A glass of Jizake for $5-6 is very reasonable considering their selection of reputable regional Sake. This is not a place to sit for hours just over a couple of drinks - this is a place to enjoy good eating with good drink. It is always packed with locals after 7:00, so go there early. The menu is in Japanese, but the staff are kind and help you out, or just point what others are eating. (Note: as with any Izakaya style place, starch such as steamed rice or rice ball do not automatically come; you need to order individually. Many locals save the starch portion until after an Izakaya visit and get some local Udon noodle elsewhere. )

It's with mixed emotions that I recommend this place. You herds of bermudas might ruin it cause it's so intimate and niche but on the other hand it's soooo goood- Sushi to die for and boutique Sake to go along with...

Small sushi bar with the sushi artisans preparing fresh sushi in front of you as ordered. Great skill from long apprenticeships. Sushi was very good. I had an 8 piece set with miso and a dish to finish that had an egg custard over the cooked sushi offcuts. Delicious. 2500yenA good Japanese experience. Recommended But note the ashtrays beside the sushi !!!!

We found this wonderful fish restaurant by accident but once inside, realised it was one we had seen recommended in our travel guidebook. We've never been in a place like it, with the big fish tank in the centre and bar-type seating all round it, along with tatami rooms off to the side. The menu is quite extensive (in English too) and exceptionally good value for the price. The service was friendly and efficient (the ladies were in kimono) and we enjoyed ourselves so much we came back another night to try a different set menu. Quite close to the JR station, at the western end of the Hyogomachi arcade.
