Rancho Palos Verdes (also known by the abbreviation RPV) is a city in Los Angeles County, California atop the Palos Verdes Hills and bluffs of the Palos Verdes Peninsula. The restaurant is quaint and comfortable. the staff is very friendly. We had steamed dumplings to start. The Kung Pao is outstanding and prepared perfectly. The fried rice with chicken is wonderful. The food comes out of the kitchen quick and hot. Fun spot for sure.

My friend and I ordered the lunch specials. The cost was about $10-11 per entree. This was my first time here, so I cannot speak re. the rest of the menu. However, my well-presented, tasty lunch included choice of white or brown rice, nicely prepared sushi, fish in a light batter or panko mix, a small dollop of potato salad and miso soup. The restaurant was clean and had a subtle decor. My friend's lunch of tempera and chicken teriyaki looked delicious, and she finished her meal. So I assume it was good. I plan on returning with my husband for lunch. Our server was Leo, and he was very attentive! :)

A lifelong sushi-lover, I have tried all the sushi bars in the PV and San Pedro area and Sushiya is the best in the local area. It is a small, unassuming place in a strip mall, not much on decor, but the sushi chef is top-notch and the best part is that it is not overcrowded with a waiting line like the other, better-known place nearby. Tired of waiting for a table nearby we went one block down the street to Kumano Sushiya and have been great fans ever since.Aside from daily specials from the chef, they do not have a large, sophisticated menu but what they have is the freshest I've had and I am totally hooked on their PV Roll, which is wrapped in soy paper with salmon, tuna, avocado & crab. The meal is always finished with fresh orange & hot towel for the hands.Although we do not go often the staff knows us and is always very friendly. Service is fast. Smaller places like this deserve local traffic for their high standards, simple, fresh fare reminiscent of what you would find in a local place in Japan, and no waiting in line!

â¦. ....but merely because there really isn't anywhere else, this is an average sushi restaurant that by necessity serves a range of fairly standard Asian hot dishes as well. The small and totally straightforwardly simple room has a bar and about a dozen tables, well waitered by attentive staff that easily fills with locals by mid-evening. Nothing fancy but good quality fish and well prepared dishes, not altogether well co-ordinated in terms of timing, however. As the main road leads nowhere than round the Palos Verdes Peninsula, it is hardly on a beaten track but if you are in the area it might serve you well, if only because of the lack of competition.
