I have long been wanting some good sushi. My son took me to Taiko, and they did not disappoint! There were all sorts of options on the menu, complete with good descriptions so you know exactly what you're getting. I ordered the California Roll & Sunset Roll, because I wanted avacado. They were both good and the Sunset also had fresh tuna. My son gave me a taste of his Volcano Roll and his KDH Roll, both of which were warm (fried crunchy) and delicious! I'll definitely be returning to Taiko as often as possible.

With all the glowing reviews we had to try this place since we greatly love oriental cuisine and the choices are limited for us locals in the Outer Banks. First, we probably should have had a sushi appetizer because of the many great reviews sushi gets from other visitors. Instead, wife ordered the Pad Thai with softshell crab and I had the mixed vegetables with shrimp (both ordered on the mild hotness option). The Pad Thai was done well but could have had more fish sauce ingredient for better flavor; also next time we would order the medium spicy option and suggest that for others as a better choice (no fish, hot or soy sauces available on the table to adjust your own flavor choice). The mixed vegetable dish was disappointing for two main reasons: the vegetables were mainly onions, regular cabbage pieces and bell pepper with a few mushrooms and broccoli florets. Totally bummed out that there were no bean sprouts or any other of the usual chinese vegetables or chinese mushrooms/black fungus. Use of regular cabbage instead of Bok Choi and the bell pepper could were not what I think of as "oriental" cuisine. Finally, the "sauce" on my dish consisted of a watery beef broth with a hint of oriental flavors..........not bad, just not typical or something I would want again. We will definitely go back to this restaurant and try the sushi and perhaps a ramped up spiciness for the Pad Thai.Servings are small for the price and don't expect leftovers to take home.

We had dined here when we were on vacation a few years ago and it was relatively good, so we decided to stop in again for dinner. When we walked in the hostess was very nice. Small wait but no biggie. When we were seated the waiter was like a tyrant. He rushed us to get our drink order. He was extremely rude the entire time. The grills are dirty and need to be cleaned. Dried food crumbs in the crevices that have clearly been in there awhile. Our chef came and he was friendly but he burned his arm while he was doing the volcano. After that he rushed to finish cooking the food and the vegetables werenât cooked all the way. Our waiter came back and gave us the checks and we were charged for extra chicken that we didnât receive. So, the waiter went over to the chef and cursed at him in front of us and another table. We couldnât believe how horrible the service was. The staff was not friendly other than the hostess. We will not return.
