Michi no eki (literally road station) is a facility on non-motorway major roads with 24 hours parking and public convenience services operated generally by the local municipality and authorized by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MLIT). The main aim for this type of facility is the convenience of drivers on non-motorway major roads and the stimulation of the local economy. As such the stations all have tourist information services and most have a restaurant and gift shop offering local food and produce. A pilot program started in 1991 and the first 103 stations were authorized in 1993. As of April 2018, 1145 stations have been approved nationwide. I have found these stations to be most convenient to enjoy local food and purchase local produce without having to shop at different shops or pick something that I had forgotten to purchase elsewhere. Michi no eki Tomiura in Minamibousou is one of the first road stations to open and also has become a role model. Tomiura is famous for loquat fruit (the orange fruit sold around June time called Biwa in Japanese), so many loquat products are promoted here. The other local food promoted is dried fish, delicious when grilled. Tomiura Mart has a ground floor shopping area and a restaurant upstairs. We had lunch at the restaurant which has a limited but great local food menu offered at affordable prices. I had the day's special which was miso stewed mackerel (sabamiso) and local sashimi set menu and my wife ordered the grilled fish lunch. The dishes are not luxurious but very enjoyable. Our bill was less than a thousand yen per person. This Michi no eki is only a kilometer away from the famous Daifukuji Gake Kannon (the Kannonbosatsu carved in the rock cliffs housed in a red shrine) and the area around the facilities is very picturesque. We were very satisfied with the lunch and will certainly visit again.

お昼に立ち寄りました。お任せ15貫4500円を注文白身を中心とした南房総で取れる新鮮な海の幸をそれぞれのネタに合わせた握りで楽しめました。ただネタが出てくるタイミングが早くて慌ただしかった。もう少し食べる人のペースに合わせて握ってくれたら嬉しい。それとシャリが大きめなのでもう少し小ぶりなシャリがわたし的には好みです。でも美味しかったのでまた行きたい。

富浦インターを出たところにあり、交通の便がとてもよいです。普通の回転すしですが、勝手に回っているネタはなく、すべて座席から画面を押して注文する方式です。注文したお寿司は、回転レーンを通って、自動的に自分の席まで運ばれてきます。地魚三カンセット（４２０円）、地金目鯛（４２０円）などのメニューもあります。やはり地魚が食べられるのがうれしいです。鮮度も間違いないと思います。回転すしのチェーン店よりは少しお値段がはりますが、それだけの価値は十分にあると思います。

A very popular sushi restaurant. 39 years old. Chef is very kind but doesn't speak english. Very usual looking restaurant. Maybe hard to figure out.

I had the "Aburi Kaisen Don" (broiled seafood bowl) which features different types of seafood - some raw, some cooked and some which you'll have to grill (DIY). Never had so much food in my life for only 1500 yen! Overall, quality and freshness was excellent and this set is really value for money but do note that it is limited to only 25 customers a day. We were recommended this restaurant by a friend who lives locally. From the outside it looks like a nondescript old Japanese building, but inside is comfortable, despite the small size. The omakase sushi set is extremely good value for ¥3000, yet there is no skimping on the portions, thick slices of very fresh local fish, served with crab miso soup.The sake selection was also amazing value, top of the line sakes for a fraction of what they cost in Ginza. Our friend told us this restaurant is extremely popular for locals, the oldest restaurant in minamiboso - dating back to the Meiji era. Booking was not needed for a weekday lunch, but is probably necessary at the weekends, as it is a small counter and a few tables, with seperate rooms at the back. Well worth a visit if you are in southern Chiba.

地魚食べ比べ刺身御膳を注文したが、流石、海の町館山だけあって、大変新鮮で、手ごろなお値段で、美味しく頂きました。館山駅（JR)から徒歩圏内。店構えも良く、再訪したい。

房総旅行で必ず立ち寄ります。金目の煮付けは最高で、毎回いただいております。あみなや丼も海鮮丼ですが、盛りだくさんでおすすめ今回は、イカ刺身とつみれ鍋もいただきました。どちらもおいしかったです。あと、あさりのバター焼きもいつも頼む定番です。

Went for Sunday nite dinner.Surprisingly good selection of toro (fatty tuna) otoro and chutoro. Two pieces of otoro for 500 jpy. Chawamushi (hot egg custard ) had salmon roe and uni (sea urchin) on top. For kaiten sushi very good quality for reasonable price. Still good selection even after a super busy Sunday.
