My original reason for coming this way was to go to a Greek restaurant, but as I walked by it was completely empty. So, I decided to walk around and find a more happening spot, which is how I found Mizu. The restaurant was fairly full, the atmosphere cozy, and staff friendly and welcoming. I was seated right away and given a beverage immediately, as well as my order taken. Since I ordered cooked rolls, I expected my food to take a bit longer. So I ordered a miso soup and a guacamole shrimp while I waited. The miso was super good and just what I needed on this cold day. The guacamole shrimp was amazing!!! I almost ordered another dish and said forget the main, but didnât want to look greedy. The roll came and was cooked perfectly. They were a bit bigger in diameter than I am used to, but so what..the more the merrier!! The rolls are priced on point, so I got more than my money worth. I was completely full with what I ordered and it all cost less than 25$, which is almost unheard of at a sushi spot. If you are anywhere near Cranford, pay this place a visit. The food, atmosphere and customer service are well worth it. Enjoy!!!

We've lived in the area for 20 years. Nagoya offers the best sushi, especially the "special" rolls. I prefer anything with tuna and the Alice Roll and/or Crazy tuna roll fit the bill. We take out often from the restaurant and it's always fresh and very good. I like beef negamaki in general, though it's not one of their stronger offerings, so I'd stick with sushi. We've dined at the restaurant as well and the employees are all very friendly and pleasant. It's a bit pricey, but I'd rather pay up for quality (fresh) sushi than somewhere else that I don't trust.

Simply the best sushi in NJ. This place beats out all the other sushi places I've been to; on flavor, quality, preparation, consistentcy and presentation. The price is commensurate with the quality and a good value. The owners are super sweet folks and their staff is very good. . Everything on the menu is great.Enjoy!

This is a high-end sushi restaurant in the middle of Westfield-the fish is very fresh and the portion sizes are generous. In comparison to other sushi restaurants akai is a little more expensive, about 25% in some cases. The service was very attentive, and the food was excellent. We enjoyed the Caribbean salad which had a great portion of fresh fish, a basterd roll and a few other assorted items that overall I would rate very highly. Normally I can eat quite a bit of sushi and get hungry again later, but I was very full afterward and quite satisfied.

Came here for lunch today with a visiting relative. This place has a great mix of menu choices. We started out hungry, overordered and took stuff home. But I'm happy since I have yummy leftovers. We shared the mushroom/goat cheese/red onion flatbread. Just delicious! I had the field green salad - and we chose luncheon specials. I had Tortellini alfredo with shrimp and cherry tomatoes. A very large portion, hot and unctuously lovely. My niece had the crispy chicken with ravioli and spinach. She raved about it. We finished with capuccini - made perfectly. We were the only ones there [it was 1:30 pm] - but it is a holiday weekend which might explain that; service was friendly and attentive. I'd forgotten about this place - but I shall return more often. Not cheap eats but the portions are generous and the food is worth it. And plenty of parking!

we recently hosted a birthday celebration for my husband and because of the timing around a holiday weekend I wanted to make the food âeasyâ to serve.I went to see the owner at Avenue East a few weeks before my party and he gave me their catering menu which was about 4 pages long.We narrowed down our choices on various sushi, hot appetizers and 4 entrees. I placed the order 4-5 days before the party, and set a delivery time.At exactly the time I requested, the food arrived hot and ready to pop in the oven to stay warm and the sushi went right into the fridge. The sushi was nicely plated so I just left it as delivered and put out the wasabi, ginger and dipping sauce in bowls. They also sent more than enough chop sticks. We later brought out the entrees, although to be honest everyone was pretty well satiated from the sushi and hot appetizers! Live and learn about food portioning!Everything was delicious and I could relax and really enjoy the party!Iâm sure they will be getting some new customers soon- everyone was very impressed with the food and asking which restaurant we ordered from and we were happy to share the name and address!Thank you!

We have been here several times and had stopped going because of the bad press but decided to give it a try again and the sushi is still delicious and always tastes fresh. The half price sushi menu is great and a good deal

Still my favorite (and only) go-to sushi spot! Freshest fish, most creative dishes, friendliest service. Some menu highlights: Mexican Sushi Pizza - Fried naan bread topped with rice, guacamole and raw tuna; Tuna Tower - layers of edamame, avocado, apple, and a TON of seasoned raw tuna - it's an entree in itself! My kids love the sushilupa. And don't miss the teas. My favorite is the honey green iced tea, but I also love the red tea. Tempura ice cream is a family fave to finish things off. All this, and the prices are still the most reasonable of all the sushi places in our area. If you're eating sushi anywhere else, you're paying way too much AND missing out on the best sushi in the NY metropolitan area.
