Since 1999, KAZ Sushi Bistro has been loved by locals as well as people from all over the world. Menu is very unique, from authentic Japanese regional food to one of the kind unique original dishes are served in casual and friendly ambience.
I visited Kaz a week ago during a business trip to DC. I ordered a sashimi-sushi sampler, which at $45, was on the upper end of the prices in the menu. What a disappointment. Pretty average salmon/tuna/whitefish selection, nothing special. The nigiri pieces were small with thin slices of fish, not better than any neighborhood sushi delivery. This used to be an excellent place, not sure if it's gone south in quality or if I just chose the wrong dish. It certainly felt like highway robbery to me.

We were looking for good seafood. We order a seafood combination. It was not that good. The biscuits are great. But donât order them for anAppetizer because they come with a lot of the meals. The drinks were good, the soup andCalamari. The service were good as well. Maybe it was just a fluke that the seafood platter was cool and not good. But for the price, I expect good food. Thank you for your feedback. I am real sorry our Fishers Fry Combo failed to measure up to the starters and drinks ordered. :/ Our Culinary Team has read your review and will surely take into account what you shard. We do hope to have you back for another try soon and please call us at 202-298-8783 for any reservation help needed. -Amy

Sushi Zen has long been my favorite to go to when I have a craving for Japanese food. I have already written reviews of it as an outstanding Japanese Restaurant in Arlington and so far that rating from me stands. However I was greatly surprised by my luncheon today. My son and I both ordered Bento Boxes. This time no salad was served. The miso soup that comes with the meal was good. When our Bento boxes arrived I found the smallest sushi I had ever seen here or in Japan. I was greatly disappointed. I usually order some sushi from the sushi menu to augment my bento box meal and to take home what I do not eat at the restaurant. This time I didn't.I will be going to another very highly rated Japanese restaurant in this area early next week and will be able to compare the sushi for quality and size. I am hoping that the sushi today is not a management decision to cut down, but a one time thing with the sushi chef making the sushi much too small today only. I will certainly go to Sushi Zen again and will find out.
