I heard the owners of Tofino, which I love by the way, opened this other restaurant so me and my friends went to try it out. We ordered the salmon tacos, the burritos, Italian meatballs sandwich and the fries with bacon and maple syrup and the fries with pulled pork ribs. The food was nice but it was a bit meh. It's supposed to be half-street food restaurant and half-bar but the options were limited to some Mexican fares, sandwiches and a reinvented fries with pulled pork ribs (I love the fries with pulled pork in Tofino). There are not many exciting street food in the menu.To be honest I feel like the owners got lazy here. It feels like Tofino. The menu style and presentation is the same. The utensils are the same. The plating is almost the same. Some of the food has better version in Tofino (pulled pork for example). It's nice but I probably won't eat here again. I'll happily eat again in Tofino though.

Dr. T's Burger Lab was one of my regular go-to-places while I spent ca. 6 months in the nearby Sheraton on business. As an American I am used to and appreciate good burgers and BBQ, and Dr. delivers! The burger meat patties where often truly exceptionally good, as were the various sauces, garnishings, even down to the great dill pickles and home-made potato and sweet potato fries. They also do not skimp on portion sizes. When you order a coke you get a 500ml (half-litre) bottle at a fair price. Same goes for all other food and drink. Service is also consistently friendly, speedy and attentive. The one thing I did notice is that the quality how the plates were prepared and burgers built-up varied substantially. Always still good, but clearly differences in attention to detail. While ok, I was also not impressed by their ribs. The sauce is too flat and really needs to be thickened a bit and given more "body", and the way they prep their ribs makes them too flabby for my taste. So, a bit of room for improvement, but as far as burgers go I will surely miss this place a lot and will make a detour for it in the years ahead when I am back in the Essen region.

We were here couple of times. The burgers offered are of varied range and one can have both veg as well as non-veg option with all of their burger style which is quite good. Veg patty is really delicious and is fresh. Buns are fresh and crispy. The place is quite spacious, so not so cosy. The service was quite good, servers are very polite and helpful and speaks english as well. They have variety of drinks including good german and belgian beers. The place can be full sometimes so one should reserve just in case.

I've come here several times, both privately and with colleagues. The food is delicious and made with soul. Whether you're vegan, carnivore, omnomnivore... there are options to please everyone. I greatly appreciate the American influence (Chicken&Waffles YUM!) that the Chef has infused into his own style. The staff are delightful and welcoming, always willing to help. The ambiance is lovely and fits the jazzy vibe. Definitely check this great restaurant out on your next visit to Essen.

We went with friends, having heard a lot. Much ado. It was alright. Waited a while, fries were lukewarm, it was underwhelming. Also a lecture about how they serve rare as the meat is so special. We aren t going back.

It happens often that because of good reviews end up in a restaurant and feel disappointed at the end of the dinner. I was prepared for this to happen, but my worries were for nothing. This really is a good place and I subscribe to previous reviews. A friendly waiter, proud on his restaurant, assuring us that everything is fresh, takes care for us. He does this in a genuine hospitable way. The food is authentic, I have never been there, so itâs a bit of an assumption, but a safe one. Fresh, well prepared and served with pride for the food. The taste is sensational. We had the lamb curry that was labelled as Sri Lanka street food. As a whole dish a bit dry, but part of a sharing dinner, it brings interesting textures and flavors. The other dishes, the famous chicken biryani and a lentil stew were very flavorful as well, served with rice and a roti. Prices are moderate and perhaps even low for what is offered. All in all this is really a good and sympathetic restaurant and it deserves also in this review the maximum score. Well done. Thank you :-D
