We were staying at an AirBnb several miles away out of town, and were looking for a close restaurant. We found Malanga Fusion Caribe by accident. We actually missed the restaurant we were looking for. Having an affinity for Caribbean food, we decided to stop and are glad we did! The menu had a great selection, including tons of vegetarian and vegan options. I felt like I needed to eat healthy, which was easy to do with the menu choices. Their beer selection was superior, too.I was pretty much done with seafood, but loved rondon. I ordered the vegetarian rondon soup and it was incredible; it was full of the traditional root vegetables along with an assortment of other veggies. With the extra side salad that I ordered, I almost had too much food. My husband really enjoyed his entree, too, although I can´t remember what he ordered. The presentation of both dishes, were beautiful and tasted amazing. I think their banana chips were the best that that I have ever tasted. They were cut length wise and were not oily at all. (I took a photo of my meal, which I am posting, however I had already taken a bite or two.) We both ordered different desserts. He had the homemade tiramiso, while I had a layered tart. (I had to take most of it to go.) Both were yummy. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are in Cartego. My only criticism, is that I wish their togo boxes were not made of styrofoam and they used something more sustainable.

El Ajonjoli Street Food is a family-owned and operated restaurant in Turrialba. Whenever I visit Turrialba I make sure to stop by to see what Chef Danny Zamora has on the menu that features hamburgers with amazing and unexpected toppings. Often Chef Danny has created a new dessert. Prices are reasonable and atmosphere is friendly.
