The San Franciscan

Established in 1963, Torrance restaurant and cocktail lounge serving prime rib, steak, and seafood.

My wife selected the San Franciscan to celebrate our 43rd Wedding Anniversary because she had heard about the prime rib. We were not disappointed. We both ordered the shrimp and prime rib plate. We were served nice large shrimp and a good thick cut of prime rib plus salad and bake potato. Very tasty! We plan on going back soon.

Black Angus Steakhouse - Torrance

I dined here on a visit to LA area after remembering fondly a Black Angus in the Phoenix area. I had a steak, au gratin potatoes and green beans. The steak was okay, no real complaints with it. The side items I found to be rather bland and disappointing. The server was friendly but inattentive; I would have liked another drink but she never returned to check on me. It was early in the dinner period and not busy, so no excuse there. So three stars sounds right: nothing special, probably would not bother to dine at this location again. We appreciate you visiting again, but it's disappointing that you didn't have a five-star visit. An opportunity to speak with you more in-depth about this experience would be appreciated, so please send an email to [email protected] including your phone number and a copy of this review. Thank you. Respectfully, Jacquie W., Guest Relations Manager

You know you are in for a treat when you sit down and they serve freshly made bruschetta and warm bread. Yum! One of the better ciopinno's ever, served in oversized bowl filled with fresh fish and seafood. Very tasty homemade pastas, chicken marsala and calamari. Service very good and wine selection extremely reasonable ($30 for a nice Italian red). Overall: Excellent place for families and if you want pizza, they have that too.

Inaba Steakhouse Garden Restaurant

There are three levels of steakhouses to choose from. You have the base level cheap diner type steakhouse, such as Denny's and Norms - cheap and whose sole purpose is to satisfy your carnivorous cravings. Then are are the regular steakhouses that specializes in steaks, such as Black Angus and Outback. Then you have the premium steakhouses that caters to steak connoisseurs, such as Ruth's Chris and Fleming's. Inaba Steakhouse falls somewhere on the upper spectrum between the premium and "regular" steakhouses, not quite yet "premium" but unique on its own and with a Japanese twist. The restaurants is located in a strip mall in south Torrance/Palos Verdes border. It doesn't look like much on the outside but the interior harbors a cozy atmosphere and is very romantic. There's no doubt in my mind that the steaks served here is fantastic. The price commanded for a dinner for two with a bottle of red wine is not cheap, about $150 excluding tip. This includes an albacore cappricio appetizer, two plates of 6 oz prime rib eye and a glass of 10 year old port for dessert. The presentation of our rib eye steaks was fantastic. It arrived in a sizzling plate, similar to Ruth's Chris, with oil still sizzling and splattering all over the plate and immediate area. Because of this, I recommend moving away or cover yourself with a handkerchief as soon as your steak arrives. The rib eye steak is served with sliced white onion, 3 cuts of wild mushrooms, some vegetables and their house steak sauce. Exquisitely delectable in both presentation and taste. If you have deeper pockets, I read that their 3oz Wagyu beef, yes, you read correct - 3oz! (authentic and rare imported kobe beef from Japan) is worth the $65.00 they charge for dinner. Since Wagyu beef is imported, they sporadic in terms of availability. The service could use some work, but our waitress showed us that she was eager to serve us. No overall complaints about service for us. We'll definitely return. If you're a steak connoisseur and want to experience steak from a different perspective, I recommend giving Inaba Steakhouse a try!
