On a beautiful Saturday night I met up with the ever lovely Summerfungirl to share an evening at Oliverâs. When I originally booked the table I asked where the closest parking was and was told the Go Station or there was parking on Church St. so I Googled to find the exact locations and it showed only those 2 lots. Wellâ¦the Go Station is MILES away and the lot on Church is a pretty long walk and as we trekked towards Oliverâs we saw at least four parking areas much closer to the restaurantâ¦one was directly behind Oliverâs so not sure why the guy who took our reservations would say parking lots miles away but it was a precursor to the shoddy service to come.Upon arrival we were seated at our table after a few minutes wait and our waitress came by with menus and a wine menu. While she was very nice in demeanourâ¦she didnât have a proper grasp on serviceâ¦constantly asking us for our order before our cocktails came and coming by literally every 2 minutes asking if we were ready to order. It felt like they wanted us to be out of there in 20 minutes or less. Drinks took too long to arrive and the bartender wasnât busy so againâ¦service lacking. The sign outside said under New Management and it seemed everyone there was ânewâ with lack of proper training. The waiter who brought bread/appetizers to the tables must have bumped into Summerfungirlâs chair at least 6-7 times and not once was there a âPardon meâ or âIâm sorry.âThe food was a saving grace with oysters and beef Carpaccio for me and steak tartar for Summerfungirl. Together we shared Chateaubriand for two with sides of mushrooms, garlic mash and asparagus. The Chateaubriand is not prepared tableside unfortunately and although we asked for medium rare it bordered far closer to rare. But flavour and tenderness were great and the horseradish sauce and bone marrow pepper sauce were tasty additions to the meal. Our waitress came by later and apologized for her rushed service and said she had just started there. Iâm glad she told me because I can forgive poor service from someone new because ultimately itâs the Managerâs fault for not giving staff proper training. Overall the atmosphere is nice and you can have a conversation without ambient noise making it difficult. The food is very good but the various staff from servers to bartenders to whoever took our reservations need to up their game because poor service cancels good food every time.

For superior cuts of meat and a large selection of wines and sophisticated ambiance, there is no other choice than Bâton Rouge Steakhouse Bar & Grill in Oakville.
Visited yesterday after several months. Service was excellent & atmosphere was OK. Ribs were tasty and came with mashed potatoes only - you had to pay extra for another side like veges. The Salmon piece was small, unseasoned & completely bland. Instead of a plate full of Calamari ($15), you got a few rings placed on a bed of lettuce to make the plate look full. With no alcohol, dessert or coffee the meal cost $88 plus tip for two persons. Definitely, not worth the money. For a truly memorable experience & far better value, check out Trattoria Timone in the same plaza.

We had heard that Chop steakhouse was exceptional and decided to try it out in Oakville. The hostess was really genuinely nice , our server was amazing and Ashley the Manager remembered taking our reservation the night before by telephone and came over to say hello.
