Our concept is to provide One location for Carnivores & Vegan/Vegetarians alike to experience a unique "Latin Inspired" menu
They must have been short staffed as they asked to wait at the bar for 1/2 hour, but it was worth it. The bartender made margaritas from scratch without simple syrup on request. They sat us at a table of our choice and the casual atmosphere overlooked a small outdoor patio area where some dude was doing Yoga poses??? Crazy and it wasn't even sponsored by the bar - lol. People have no sense of spacial awareness or how to act out. Well, it did give me something to write about. The tapas are recommended and the service was great!

My first exposure to Brazilian was in Minneapolis, and that place was better. Great to have Samba in Madison, but lots of work remains to make it great experience. My grudges include meat servers ("gauchos") who congregate in the kitchen area chatting, not watching that people are waiting for them with empty plates. Then some of them will come several times, and some of them will never show up. They had either 8 or 10 (I don't remember for sure) types of meat (actually one was not a meat but a pineapple - and that was a king of the party! awesome!), and each server seems to bring one type of meat; some came several times, but two of the offerings we never got to try - those guys never stopped at our table. Another issue was a quality of the meats. Some were super great, but few were of the quality that seems to "rival" free soup kitchen - in particular lamb was totally inedible; for the price they charge they should offer prime quality meats, and they are not there yet. But on the upside, their "salad bar" had great and unusual offerings, worth trying on their own.

Johnny Delmonico's is a big-city steak house with crisp white linen on the tables, a gorgeous mahogany bar, and dark wood paneling with Art Deco inspired metallic trim. Here you will be treated with outstanding service, offered the best steaks in Madis
Dinner with spouse and three old friends. We were warmly greeted and seated promptly. The general atmosphere is pretty standard white table cloth/steak house decor of dark wood, glass and such. The place was a bit loud for my taste, especially for fine dining. Others dining nearby were celebrating birthdays, etc., which didn't help. (There is a nice looking private room in the back that appears to seat 18 or 20.)Our server Lisa was very professional and helpful with the menu, etc. On this Tuesday night the place seemed a little understaffed, perhaps one or two people short. Our orders were taken promptly but the food came out slowly, especially the appetizers. We had calamari, which was quite good and an ample portion for three or four people. One order of oysters were consumed by others (not me). In contrast to the calamari, the two crab cakes were small for the money and not especially fresh tasting.A couple of us ordered lobster bisque, which was good if not great. (Rare Steakhouse in Madison has superior lobster bisque.) A friend's side salad seemed OK. Warm bread on the table was quite good but never renewed. The steaks are the stars of the show here, of course. Everyone seemed quite satisfied with their selections. Mine was cooked perfectly to my order (medium rare +).However, I must say that my spouse's vegan pasta dish was almost inedible. The pasta was drenched in some sort of lemon sauce that was bitter and harsh. Avoid vegan pasta at this (or any) steak house! :-)We had different potato choices and none were met with much enthusiasm. My hash browns were too salty and over-cooked. The baked potato in foil (why?) looked gummy and undercooked. Again, the side salad looked uninspiring from across the table.Because we were stuffed from an earlier dessert party, we declined the dessert course or coffee. Would I return? If I wanted steak or calamari. (I really appreciated that Lisa did not try to upsell us on steak toppings, etc., as is common at some other Madison steak houses such as Rare. However, if you love the full-on steakhouse experience for businessmen, then Rare is a good choice.) . But if I'm downtown and paying for my own meal of this sort, I will go to Tornado Room instead.

Had a complimentary breakfast here as a part of Hilton Madison stay, being a Gold HHonors member.Good atmosphere considering the interior décor, customers' conversations and being located next to the hotel lobby.Omelet was cooked just right, with all the veggies and ham. Bagels were baked just right.Server was polite and professional.Thank you so much for the review! We are happy to have you here and please let us know how we can accomodate you in the future.Thank you,Nathan MergenChophouse General Manager

Created by Wisconsin natives for Wisconsin diners, RARE features USDA Prime steaks aged in-house, certified sommeliers to guide guests in choosing from a selection of more than 750 wines and truly remarkable service.
From the moment we were greeted by Owen, our Anniversary Dinner was top notch. Kate, our server was very pleasant, knowledgeable on the menu and attentive. I will ask for her the next time we dine at Rare. Owen stopped by often to check on us, as he did for all of those of us who were dining outside. I enjoyed the wedge salad and my wife liked the beet salad which was creatively plated. Both of our entrees we very good ... each of us had seafood at a steakhouse! I had the Cobia and the sauce was modified in accord with my request. My wife enjoyed the seared scallops ... a bit over done, not translucent, but still good. Each entree was also nicely presented, and delivered hot from the kitchen. We finished with creme brulee and berries with cream. BTW - we dined on Sunday which happened to be 1/2 price for bottles of wine, which I consider a bonus! Kate, Owen and the staff at Rare Steakhouse made this an enjoyable evening. We will be back!

Wow, this place has amazing steak and seafood. I dined upstairs on a Tuesday Night and we had the room to ourselves. Appetizers, main course, and dessert were all fantastic. Free parking on site!

We came here to celebrate a birthday. Since it touts itself as a Wisconsin supper club, we tried the old fashioned for a cocktail. They make them right. The spinach salad with hot bacon dressing was excellent. The entrees, two different steaks and pork tenderloin, were all cooked properly and served hot. However, the French onion soup, although tasty, had way too many large chunks of bread in it. We were hoping for dessert, but there were no gluten-free options. This restaurant is small so tables are quite close together and parts of it were quite noisy. Also, coming in or leaving is through the bar and when it's busy, that's tricky, especially for anyone who has any mobility problems.
