It is the county seat of Douglas County and is adjacent to the town of Gardnerville. It was founded in 1906 by Heinrich Friedrich Dangberg Jr., who named it after the town of Minden, in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia, which was near his father's birthplace. A large share of the first settlers were Germans. Minden was founded on company land of the Dangberg Home Ranch and Dangberg commissioned most of the town's early buildings. Minden has had a post office since 1906.

We were given a recommendation to try this restaurant and weâre very happy we went. The filet and scallops with shrimp were excellent dinner selections. The coconut shrimp appetizer was one of the best weâve ever had. We had a drink at the bar before dinner and the bar area is very beautiful. The restaurant was very busy that night, but we were treated to a beautiful table with a view of the area, and our server took great care to make sure we were happy with our meal. The manager stopped by each table to also ask if anyone needed more attention. We each had wine with dinner and the total cost was no more than we pay in our home town. We enjoyed our affordable and wonderful evening.

Typically we only eat breakfast here. But the new dinner menu was enticing enough to give it a try for dinner and we were not disappointed. First, our waitress, Shelly, was an absolute delight. The food, however, was a big surprise. I had the pork chop which was delicious. It was a huge bone in chop with a lovely smoky flavor served on a bed of Kale and fingerling potatoes with a nice compote on top. I also had the filet another night with a side of spinach. Although only 6 oz, it was flavorful and tender. The chicken breast dish was also excellent.Thank you so much for your lovely words! We stopped here for a quick lunch as we happened to be passing. The place was not busy, so did not have much of an atmosphere. Despite this, the service was not especially quick, although the waitress was very nice. We both ordered French Onion Soup which tasted nice enough once you managed to get through the melted cheese. There was a lot of it, and it was very hard to eat due to the fact that it had the texture of chewing gum! Wouldnât order it again.

Despite there being only a handful of tables taken, the service was terrible. 30 minutes after my salad, I started to look around because I thought they had forgotten my steak. Just then, it came...albeit undercooked and barely warm. I mentioned it to the server, who twice gave just a blank look...so even if it was mainly the kitchenâs fault, sheâs the communicator and never came close to voicing a âsorry.âWow. This is not our usual and we sincerely apologize. Please, if you don't mind, send an email to [email protected] letting us know the date you were in and the approximate time.
