Reviews on Steakhouse food in El Calafate, Province of Santa Cruz, Argentina. Building on its must-visit location, the once-tiny El Calafate has grown quickly to cater to and profit from the visitors to nearby Los Glaciares National Park. Many visit to see such natural wonders as Perito Moreno Glacier, a massive glacier that’s actually composed of many other pieces of shifting ice. Yet travelers will find that El Calafate is much more than merely a gateway to the Patagonian wild—it’s a fun town offering all sorts of outdoor adventures.

Steak Argentino was pretty small and had a big part of fat and no garnish at all. Fries were really few (Come on, why save on fries? They are really cheap!!) and not crunchy at all, instead really moist and greasy, just the way fries should NOT be! Salad from the buffet was rather boring. No yogurt dressing or such available. Nice ambiente though. Staff friendly too.

I was one of a group of 10 people who ate here. Two of the group had previously eaten here and had recommended it so we booked a table for early evening. No-one was disappointed with their meal but I'll only comment on mine. Firstly the restaurant is quite large and open. It is also quite rustic by which I mean it has bare wooden tables and chairs; no pretentions of luxury. I was told that the lamb (Cordero Patagonico) was enough for two so I ordered it for me and my wife. With chips and a mixed salad ordered additionally there was certainly enough and it was cooked perfectly. Our dessert of apple pancakes was also very good, as was the Malbec wine we had (850 pesos). Although the service was a little slow, which is not unusual with large groups), everyone left satisfied and happy. I have only said that it is slightly overpriced in my review title because my wife and I had eaten elsewhere in El Calafate and we thought that place slightly better and cheaper.

We ended up eating here every night because they always had a table for us in a town with limited real asados at a peak time of the year.We watched the mountains of sizzling meat being delivered to the other tables so knew we were in for a treat. The lomos were as good as I remembered from previous trips to Argentina. They were tender, flavoursome with that crusty edge. Perfect paired with a glass of malbec and a plate of grilled vegetables. Pricing is at high end but this is a tourist town full of parading puffer jackets. Note there is a cover charge per head here but all of the restaurants in El Calafate do it. Service is a bit patchy and on the surly side but we liked the consistency of the food. This is your best bet if you haven't booked a table.

Treat yourself with the tenedor libre and you'll get many kinds of different meat (bife, Patagonian lamb, guts, chicken, chorizo sausage). You'd better not eat the whole day just before, cause its huge. The taste: perfect. The staff: excellent. Environment: warm and cosy. This place definitely deserves its reputation.

Getting a booking was easier than we thought as it was done on the day. The service was great and attentive. The food was plentiful. The mutton was tender and well done. Overall a great evening

The food here is AMAZING!!! The empanadas, the sauces, the milanesa, the bread... all so good. However, the service is shady. We tried ordering 3 bottles of wine and they didn't have any. Our waiter tried upselling a bottle but it was way too expensive. Upon seeing that we wouldn't budge, he finally offered us a bottle he magically found around the same price as the original ones we wanted; but we had to bargain for the price. The wine was incredible. However, our waiter made us feel bad for not wanting to pay a ridiculous price for wine. The shadiness left us with a bad taste and we were afraid the food was gonna be so-so, and we actually kinda wanted to leave but we were so hungry. And then something clicked with our waiter and he ended up being such a lovely person. A really weird interaction.Yet the food was good and we were sad to not have tried the beef here.

Feared after having a great meal the first night that it wouldn't live out to expectations especially as is a 10 minute walk out of town. Pleasant surprised and if you lucky get a window seat with views of the city. Great value and staff were accommodating, we felt at home that we finished on J &B (whiskeys)

Open from the 15th October to Easter Sunday inclusive. Get ready to please with our regional dishes. Our specialty is "Palo" Lamb.
This is the restaurant of the hotel Posada Los Alamos, which lies two blocks north of the main street. It is quite large, and, in addition to an excellent breakfast buffet for guests, it offers a good choice of Patagonian dishes for dinner. We had the lamb barbecue, which is cooked the traditional way on spits hung above a log fire. It was delicious, although the portions were huge. Service was friendly and attentive.

We came here for the lamb, based on TripAdvisor reviews. The lamb was delicious. We also had a flank steak, which was not as satisfying. The views over the lake are beautiful. The ambiance of the restaurant was nothing to write home about. Basically a big open room with tables. Its location is out of town and not really walkable. Service was very good. Here are pros and cons.PROS--Lamb. It was grilled to well done and wrapped in bacon. Very interesting presentation but delicious. --View. Over the lake.--Wine. Reasonably priced.--Service. Very friendly and attentive.--Big parking lot--Take credit cardsCONS--Flank steak was disappointing.--Ambiance was not special. It felt like it could have been a chain steak house in the suburbs--big room. Atmosphere was all about the views.--Not walkable from town
