We use Brinsley lodge quite a lot and would recommend to anyone but last night was horrendous for me. We took some friends for my 60th birthday the place was not busy at all only 6 tables in use but sat an hour waiting for our starters had to send mine back as it was cold then sent the replacement back because the camembert had nothing inside it. So I sat and watched everyone else eating theirs this was made worse as I am diabetic and had my insulin when we ordered the meal ( have to take 15mins before eating) after waiting an hour for the starters I was getting desperate for something. We got no apology just the bill for over £100 but at least they took off my starter from the bill. So not a good start after raving about the place so much to our friends.Hi, thank you for reaching out. I am the general manager at Brinsley Lodge and was working the evening you came for your meal, I am sorry to hear that you didnât enjoy your 2nd starter that we prepared, so i and your waitress did apologise and we removed it from the bill, the camera show you waited 25 mins for your starters and after your starters were cleared (after the rest of the party had finished), you waited 5 minutes for your main meals, in such you said your thoroughly enjoyed. If we were made aware that you needed your food a while quicker due to health reasons we would of tried our best to get it to you as quick as possible, as we do try to look after all our guests here. It is no excuse, but at the time of ordering, there were about 6 tables in the restaurant, how ever they were another 15 tables down stairs all ordering food from the same kitchen. We do try to rectify all complaints on the occasion and can only apologise it put a dampener on your experience with us. Kind regards.

Had heard such good things I really had to try it, especially as I love my steak. Ordered the porterhouse steak, medium rare. It arrived but was overcooked. It was pink inside, but not bloody, which any chef knows would make it medium. I sent it back, but the chef insisted it was correct (is he qualified?). I said I was not eating it and left (didnât pay, of course and they didnât ask me to, so I assume they really knew it was over cooked. The waitress said it was like that because of the jasper oven (does the oven dry meat out then?). What I didnât mention and find absolutely amazing as this restaurant is owned by a butcher, is that the steak wasnât even a porterhouse. Never mind, you live and learn. Firstly I was so pleased I myself the owner and yes the butcher was there to witness your experience at our restaurant... you visited us on Friday lunch with I believe your mother, you didnât want anything from the lunch menu and insisted on our evening menu. This is something we donât normally do but as you were getting quite aggressive our chef agreed to cook you our porterhouse steak in which for your education is a sirloin on the bone with the fillet attached. As you mentioned after eating more than 1/2 your meal it wasnât cooked â medium rare â as there was no blood on your plate . When we cook our steaks we then leave them to rest , any blood is then left on the tray and the steak is plated . We take all feed back seriously and hopefully we can improve, on this occasion itâs hard as itâs not an honest review, we did feel sorry for your mother who was clearly enjoying her meal when you dragged her away .

The Royal Oak Since starting our food venture back in mid 2018 our chefs and owners have pushed the business to new heights, new opening hours and new menu consisting of wonderful local pub food, a Signature Ploughman's lunch and more! Steak night happens
Excellent ! use The Oak for Steak Nights, Curry Nights, Birthdays, & often for meals after work and the foods always good
