In 1950, East St. Louis was the fourth largest city in Illinois when population peaked at 82,366. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 27,006, less than one-third of the 1950 census.

We had another Carmine's magnificent meal. The excellent attention to detail, the spot on service and a setting that is both upscale relaxed. It's our go to place in downtown St. Louis. Food beyond compare. *sadly I forgot to photo the appetizer, we were so quick to eat it.Thank you very much for the kind words. Weâre celebrating a birthday. Itâs a dreary, rainy night and weâre met with friendly faces and warm greetings. The restaurant/bar has lots of character. Lots of hardwoods and brick to this place. Steaks are cooked to perfection, each cut is topped with its own sauce or glazing. Served with a baked potato and side salad. Topped with a nice coffee afterwards and your meal is complete. The only drawback for this night is that service was a bit slow. Possibly from our waitress having too many tables to attend. Still enjoyable.
